<br /> <br />VIII.Comments by the Recreation Director <br /> <br />1. Ms. O’Connor reported that programs are underway for the summer. <br />2. The new splash pad and playground at Martin Luther King Center are drawing large <br />numbers of participants. <br />3. The Juneteenth Celebration at Charles Black Center was held this weekend. They had a <br />nice turnout for this event. <br />4. Junior Baseball participation is up. 163 are enrolled at the Belleville location, 88 are the <br />Boehm program. <br />5. The pools have been open for a week. <br />6. Camps are running. <br />7. The Olympic Softball team will be playing here this Thursday. <br />8. The Leeper Tennis Center grand opening was June 6. <br />9. The Morningstar Run has been rescheduled to July 5 to not conflict with Mishawaka’s run. <br />10. The Senior Games will be held this weekend at Howard Park <br /> <br /> <br />IX.Comments by the Golf Operations Director <br /> <br />1.Mr. Nowacki reported that May rounds were down due to weather related circumstances. <br /> <br />2. The State Amateur qualifier is at Elbel on June 7. <br /> <br />3.All outings have been good except the School Corporation outing that was rained on after <br />nine holes. <br /> <br />4.The Elbel irrigation project is almost completed. The eighteenth hole will be completed <br />this week. <br /> <br />5.Aerifying has been completed. <br /> <br />6.The bathroom at Studebaker is complete. It is now handicapped accessible. This was <br />done by Park’s trades crews and looks great. <br /> <br />7.#4 at Erskine has been renovated. The railroad ties have been removed along the cart path <br />near the green. This will help speed up play. <br /> <br /> <br />X.Comments by the Zoo Director <br /> <br />1. After reviewing the bids, Mr. Gamble, recommended the bid be awarded to Kaser-Spraker. <br />Dr. Kelly made a motion to award the bid to Kaser-Spraker Construction in the amount of <br />$829,050. Mr. Mullins seconded the motion and it was passed. <br />2. The keeper that was attacked by the amur leopard is back to work. He is working with all <br />the agencies to get them all the information they need for their investigations. <br />3. The Butterfly Garden is open and 972 went through on the first day. <br />4. The veterinarian applicant has accepted their offer and will start in August. <br /> <br /> <br />XI.Comments by Maintenance Superintendent <br /> <br />1.
