kEGULAR MEETING <br />REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION <br />Honorable Common Council <br />City of South Bend <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen;: <br />May 9, 1955 <br />MAY 9TH, 1955 <br />At a meeting of the City Planning Commission on May 5, 1955, attorneys for Mr. Herman Light re his petitions to <br />rezone certain land on East Jefferson Street, withdrew without prejudice said petitions. <br />Very truly yours, <br />CITY PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Robert L. Huff <br />RLH:aed Director <br />Councilman Korpal made a motion that the report be accepted and placed on file. Councilman Bestle seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION <br />Honorable Common Council <br />City of South Bend <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gen t retnen: <br />May 9, 1955 <br />Returned herewith, without action, is the petition of the Taube Printing Company to rezone Lots numbered 40, 41 <br />and 42 of Oakland Park. <br />The Commission found the petition in defect under the provisions of Ordinance 3702, Sub- Section 23 (g) and (h). <br />The Commission, therefore, recommends that the said petition be rejected. <br />RLH:aed <br />Very truly yours, <br />CITY PLANNING COMMISSION <br />Robert L. Motion carried. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4046 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING FROM THE GENERAL FUND <br />$7,936.53 TO POLICE DEPARTMENT P -11 SERVICES PERSONAL- <br />SALARY OF PATROLMEN $7,936.53; ALL OF THE BUDGET FOR <br />THE CIVIL CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AND DECLARING <br />AN EXTRAORDINARY EMERGENCY. <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 7 ayes - 1 absent (Councilman Pinter). <br />ORDINANCE NO. 4047 <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING CONTRACTS BETWEEN SOUTH BEND <br />BOARD.OF WATER WORKS COMMISSIONERS AND CONTRACTORS <br />FOR LOCATION OF A WELL IN RUM VILLAGE PARK. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Glass made a motion for <br />suspension of rules. Councilman Muszynski seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call vote of 7 ayes - <br />1 absent (Councilman Pinter). <br />The ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 7 ayes - 1 absent (Councilman Pinter). <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE SUPPLEMENTING ORDINANCE NO. 3709, APPROVED JULY <br />12, 1949, COMMONLY KNO14M AS "MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, 1949" AND BEING SECTION CHAPTER , <br />BEING AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING DISCRIMINATION IN EMPLOYMENT <br />BECAUSE OF RACE, COLOR, RELIGION, NATIONAL ORIGIN OR ANCESTRY <br />BY EMPLOYERS, EMPLOYMENT AGENCIES, LABOR ORGANIZATIONS AND <br />OTHERS, PROVIDING FOR THE CREATION OF THE SOUTH BEND FAIR <br />EMPLOYMENT PRACTICE COMMISSION, PRESCRIBING ITS DUTIES AND <br />POWERS, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES. <br />The ordinance was given first reading by title only. Councilman Hahn made amotion that the ordinance be referred <br />to a special committee for further study. Councilman Bestle seconded the motion. Motion carried by a roll call <br />vote of 6 ayes (Councilmen Erler, Bestle, Niezgodski, Glass, Hahn and Muszynski) - 1 nay (Councilman Korpal) - <br />1 absent (Councilman Pinter). <br />Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the full membership of the Council serve on the committee. Councilman <br />Hahn seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />3 MINUTE RECESS - 8:30 P.M. <br />Councilman Niezgodski made a motion for a three minute recess. Councilman Bestle seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried. <br />RECONVENED MEETING - 8 :35 P.M. <br />Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the ordinance be given second reading. Councilman Niezgodski seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried, and the ordinance was given second reading. <br />Councilman Muszynski made a motion that the ordinance be referred to the Committee of the Whole for public hearing <br />on May 23rd. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />
