REGULAR MEETING APRIL 14TH, 1952 <br />PETITION <br />THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />City of South Bend <br />Gentlemen: <br />I, Joseph H. Woodka, Vice - President of Lock Joint Tube Company, an Indiana corporation, and the owner of the <br />following described property in fee simple, situate in the City of South Bend, St. Joseph County, State of <br />Indiana, do hereby respectfully request the members of the Council to rezone the said described real estate <br />from its present classification Residential "B" to the classification "D" Light Industrial District and "E" <br />Height and Area District. <br />Beginning at the North east corner of the South one -half <br />(1) of the Southwest quarter (4) of Section Thirty -five, <br />Township Thirty -eight (38) North, Range Two (2) East in <br />St. Joseph County, Indiana; thence South Four Hundred <br />Ninety -two (492) feet; thence West One Hundred Seventy- <br />six (176) feet; thence South- Eight_Hundred Thirty`(830) <br />feet to the-South line of said section; thence East to <br />the St. Joseph River; thence down stream along the edge <br />of the river to a point due East of the point of beginning; <br />thence West to the place of beginning, excepting therefrom <br />the right of way of Riverside Drive, containing 5.34 acres; <br />and also excepting therefrom the South Three Hundred Twenty - <br />two (322) feet of said property, which south Three Hundred <br />Twenty -two (322) feet is already zoned V' Light Industrial <br />District. <br />bated this 8th day of April, 1952. <br />LOCK JOINT TUBE COMPANY <br />BY Joseph H. Motion carried. <br />PETITION <br />TO THE HONORABLE CITY COUNCIL OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />We the residents of the South side of South Bend, object to the smoke, fire and health hazards of the factories, <br />the Vandalia section of the Pennsylvanis Railroad and especially the soot and dust from the ventilating fans, <br />the flay ash and smoke fumes from cupola's from the Sibley Machine and Foundry :Corp., located rear of 2700 So. <br />Main St., and we insist that some action be taken to give us relief from the conditions as stated above. <br />(150 Signatures) <br />Councilman Hahn made a motion that the petition relative to Anti -Air Pollution be referred to the Board of <br />Public Works and Safety. Councilman Korpal seconded the motion. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF CITY PLAN COMMISSION <br />To the Common Council <br />City of South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />Petition of Carl J. Rudolph et al for change of zoning of portion of Lot'15 in J. G. Bartlett First Addition <br />from "C" height and area district to "E" Height and area district was given public hearing before the City Plan <br />Commission at their regular meeting April 3, 1952. <br />This change is recommended as petitioned for. <br />This property is at the southwest corner of North Michigan Street and Bartlett Street. <br />No change is called for in the use district which is "C" commercial. <br />CITY PLAN COMMISSION <br />D. Motion <br />carried. <br />REPORT OF CITY PLAN COIDAISSION <br />To the Common Council <br />City of South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />Petition of Joseph -Bartkowiak for change of zoning of Lot No. 3 in Bulla and Patton's Addition from A -1 residence <br />and A Height and Area Districts to C Commercial and E Height and Area Districts was given public hearing before <br />the City Plan Commission at their regular meeting April 3, 1952. <br />This change is recommended as petitioned for. <br />This lot is located at 1015 -1017 Portage Avenue. <br />CITY PLAN COMMISSION <br />D.
