Im <br />MEET ING <br />SEPTEMBER 25TH. 1950 <br />(Continued) ii <br />Upon the completion'of the extension of Williams Street froVM 940eet north to Navarre Street, all of the real <br />estate on the west side of Williams Street from the alley south of Marion Street north to Navarre Street was, <br />on the 28th day of July, 1926, by Ordinance No. 2569, zoned "C" use district and "F" height and area district. <br />Subsequently thereto, for reasons wholly unknown to these petitioners, the real estate above described, was <br />changed to "B" use district and "B" height and area district under Ordinance #3236, dated November, 1937. <br />We are respectfully requesting that the above real estate be rezoned to conform to the original plan of the <br />City aforesaid, and in conformity with all other real estate on that side of Williams Street. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />(Signed) Arthur C. Motion carried. <br />REPORT OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY <br />Members of the Common Council <br />Council Chambers,, City Hall <br />City of South Bend, Indiana September 11, 1950 <br />Gentlemen: <br />The Board 'of Public Works and Safety has authorized the installation of street lights at the following locations: <br />Catalpa and Cotter Streets; Catalpa and Leon Court; Kendall Street and Ewing Avenue; Calvert and Carroll Streets. <br />Mr. Qualls informed the Board that the street lights at the following locations have been installed and are now <br />in service: <br />Twenty - eighth Street and Nursery Court; Frances and Napoleon Streets; Madison Street curve at entrance to Morris <br />Golf Club; Calvert and Hoke Streets; Tweyckenham Drive at end of Miner Street. <br />Mr. Qualls also informed the Board that the street light on Sample Street between Harris and Kosciusko Streets <br />has been changed.to a 4000 lumen light. <br />Very truly you rs , <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY <br />(Signed) Fred G. Motion <br />carried. <br />REPORT OF BOARD^POF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY <br />Members of the Common Council <br />City Hall <br />South Bend, Indiana September 25, 1950 <br />Gent lemen: <br />` Y <br />Upon receipt of your memo of September 13, 1950, relative to the obnoxious odor of gas from the Northern Indiana <br />Public Service Company, east side plant, the Board of Public Works and Safety directed that the said Northern <br />Indiana Public Service Company have a representative of their company appear before the Board at their meeting <br />of September 25. <br />Accordingly, Mr. Ralph Davenport, Superintendent of the plant and Mr. Dan Kreitzman, Division Manager, appeared <br />before the Board on this date. Counciiman Walter Glass was also present at this meeting. The representatives <br />of the gas company informed the Board that natural gas will be piped into South Bend in the not too distant <br />future, which will eliminate the processing of gas that is presently being done in the local plant. Until such <br />time as the natural gas can be piped in, however, they assured the Board they would do everything in their power <br />to try to eliminate the objectionable odors. <br />Very truly yours, <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY <br />(Signed) Freda G. Motion <br />darried. <br />REPORT OF HEALTH DEPARTMENT <br />Members of the Common Council <br />City Hall <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />September 25, 1950 <br />Your memo relative to food discarded from lunch wagons in the vicinity of South Lafayette Boulevard and Garst <br />Street, addressed to the Board of Public Works and Safety was referred to the Health for investigation and report. <br />Attached hereto please find report of the Health Department with regard to the above matter. <br />Very truly yours, <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY <br />(Signed) Freda G.
