NEMETH, Mayor <br />COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 <br />Member of the Common Council <br />City of South Bend <br />4th floor County -City Building <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />Dear Council Members: <br />219/284 -9742 <br />There will be presented for your consideration at first reading on April 10, 1978 <br />an ordinance appropriating $251,592.00 from the General Revenue Sharing Trust <br />Fund. This appropriation, if adopted, will be used to pay the City's portion <br />of the E -3 & E -5 Code Enforcement projects which were completed May 31, 1974. <br />Basically, the City Council under Mayor Allen in 1971 made a committment to <br />pay 1/3 of audited project costs on both these projects. Originally, the <br />local matches were temporarily paid from R -66 project cash. In view of the fact <br />that R -66 is now coming to an end, these costs must be reimbursed to the Re- <br />development Commission, and the R -66 Downtown Renewal project. <br />When completed, the total project cost was as follows: <br />Ind. E -3, Northeast Code Enforcement <br />Audited Project Cost $733,450.67 <br />Amount of Grants 2/3 488,969.55 <br />City's 1/3 Share $244,481.12 <br />Plus additional site improvements $221,635.94 <br />$466,177.06 <br />Ind. E -5 Model Cities Code Enforcement <br />Audited Project Cost $439,426.92 <br />Amount of Grant 2/3 292,952.74 <br />City's 1/3 Share $146,474.18 <br />Total City Obligation $612,591.24 <br />Less payments by City 361,000.00 <br />$251,591.24 <br />
