Gentlemen: With reference to your Directive of July 12, 1960 concerning the motion made by Councilman Tellson at the July 11 Regular Meeting of the Council, the Board of Public Works end Safety at its meeting on Monday, July 18, 1960, took the following action: In accordance with a Directive from the Office of the City Clerk, dated July 12, 1960, a motion made by Councilman Tellson at the regular meeting of the Council on July 11, 1960 that the New Jersey Railroad be contacted to repair their Prairie and Kemble crossing was referred to Clem Hazinski, Traffic Engineer. The Board directed the Traffic Engineer to contact the New Jersey Railroad, study the matter and report back to the Board at a future meeting. CC to: Traffic Engineer ES Respectfully submitted, /s /. REPORT OF TRAFFIC ENGINEER Members of t1m Common Council July 21, 1960 South Bend, Indiana Gentlemen: At the direction of the Board of Public Works and Safety reference a motion made at the July 11, 1960 meeting of the Council by Councilman Tellson an investigation was made of the railroad crossing at Kemble Street. It was found that there are three sets of tracks there. Those owned by the New Jersey, Indiana & Illinois Railroad and the Pennsylvania Railroad are in good repair having been attended to only recently. However, the street crossing of the New York Central tracks is in need of repair. I have notified that railroad of the condition requesting that immediate attention be given resulting in repair. REPORT OF BOARD OF 1HEALTH July 25, 1960 City Clerk City Hall South Bend, Indiana RE: Complaint received at Council Meeting of July 12, 1960 Please be advised that on July 15, 1960 the New York Central, New Jersey and Grand Trunk Railroads have been contacted regarding the weeds at the Arnold Street Crossing and at Harris, Walnut and Ford Streets; same has been cut and cleared. REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: Your Committee of the Whole,to whom was referred AN ORDINANCE FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA FOR THE YEAR 1961,Respectfully report that they have examined the matter and that in their opinion it should be reported favorable as amended. /s/ T.W. ORDINANCE. FIRST AND SECOND READING AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE AND CONTROL THE SALE AND USE OF PLASTIC COVERINGS OR BAGS.
