Gentlemen: <br />With reference to your Directive of July 12, 1960 concerning the motion made by Councilman <br />Tellson at the July 11 Regular Meeting of the Council, the Board of Public Works end Safety <br />at its meeting on Monday, July 18, 1960, took the following action: <br />In accordance with a Directive from the Office of the City Clerk, dated July 12, 1960, a motion <br />made by Councilman Tellson at the regular meeting of the Council on July 11, 1960 that the New <br />Jersey Railroad be contacted to repair their Prairie and Kemble crossing was referred to Clem <br />Hazinski, Traffic Engineer. The Board directed the Traffic Engineer to contact the New Jersey <br />Railroad, study the matter and report back to the Board at a future meeting. <br />CC to: Traffic Engineer <br />ES <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />/s /. Motion Carried. <br />REPORT OF TRAFFIC ENGINEER <br />Members of t1m Common Council July 21, 1960 <br />South Bend, Indiana <br />Gentlemen: <br />At the direction of the Board of Public Works and Safety reference a motion made at the July 11, <br />1960 meeting of the Council by Councilman Tellson an investigation was made of the railroad <br />crossing at Kemble Street. <br />It was found that there are three sets of tracks there. Those owned by the New Jersey, Indiana <br />& Illinois Railroad and the Pennsylvania Railroad are in good repair having been attended to <br />only recently. However, the street crossing of the New York Central tracks is in need of repair. <br />I have notified that railroad of the condition requesting that immediate attention be given <br />resulting in repair. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />/s/ Clem F. FIRST AND SECOND READING <br />AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE AND CONTROL THE SALE AND <br />USE OF PLASTIC COVERINGS OR BAGS. <br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second readiin i gull Councilman Muszynski <br />made a motion that the Ordinance be set for Public Hearing on Auus ,1960.
