<br />NO. 4990, ORDINANCE NO. 3702, AS AMENDED, TO THE
<br />EXTENT IT IS STILL EFFECTIVE, AND THE MUNICIPAL
<br />CODE OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, SECTIONS 40 -1 TO
<br />SECTIONS 40 -43, AS AMENDED, TO THE EXTENT IT IS
<br />STILL EFFECTIVE. (LOCATION: MAIN & EWING STREETS)

<br />AS AMENDED.
<br />The Ordinance was given third reading and passed by a roll call vote of 8 ayes (Councilmen Laven,
<br />Allen, Craven, Grounds, Szymkowiak, Zielinski, Reinke and Palmer) 1 nay, (Councilman Wise)

<br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY
<br />WATER WORKS OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA AND THE CLOW
<br />CORPORATION, BENSENVILLE, ILLINOIS, FOR THE PURCHASE
<br />OF: I. WATER MAIN PIPE OF CAST IRON OR DUCTILE AND
<br />FITTINGS: II. MECHANICAL JOINT GATE VALVES, IN THE
<br />TOTAL AMOUNT OF $138,024.36.
<br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full. Councilman Palmer
<br />made a motion that the Ordinance be set for public hearing on June 9, 1969. Councilman Zielinski
<br />seconded the motion. Motion carried.

<br />COMPANY, INCORPORATED, MISHAWAKA, INDIANA, FOR THE
<br />PURCHASE OF A DEEP WELL PUMP AND MOTOR, IN THE TOTAL
<br />AMOUNT OF $6,180.00.

<br />14, 1963, COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE COUNCILMANIC DISTRICT
<br />ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND.
<br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title and second reading in full.
<br />made a motion that the Ordinance be sent to the Redistricting Committee for
<br />Councilman Szymkowiak seconded the motion. Motion carried.

<br />ORDINANCE
<br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES OF APPOINTED
<br />OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND,
<br />INDIANA, FOR THE YEAR, 1970.
<br />Councilman Reinke

<br />The Ordinance was given first reading by title. Councilman Allen objected to the second reading
<br />asserting that this was not the Ordinance handed the Councilmen at the Caucus meeting held
<br />on Thursday before Monday night Council meetings. She said she was not going to hold up the secon
<br />reading but she did not think this should become a general practice. The Clerk then proceeded
<br />with the second reading in full.
<br />Councilman Palmer made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Fees and Salaries Committee for
<br />study. Councilman Grounds seconded the motion.* Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion that all
<br />the Councilmen discuss the Ordinance in the Fees and Salaries Committee and revise the salaries
<br />in the committee. Councilman Allen seconded the motion but withdrew her second. Councilman
<br />Szymkowiak's motion was defeated.
