<br />AN ORDINANCE FIXING MAXIMUM SALARIES OF APPOINTED OFFICERS
<br />AND EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA FOR THE
<br />YEAR 1970.
<br />Councilman Allen then amended the motion to read - the Ordinance go to the Fees and Salaries
<br />Committee for study and that all members of the Council be informed of the date of their
<br />meeting and also be invited to offer suggestions and criticisms, however, they may not vote as
<br />members of the Committee. Councilman Palmer seconded the motion. Motion carried.
<br />RESOLUTION NO. 211 -69
<br />RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
<br />SOUTH BEND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A
<br />CONTRACT FOR A PLANNING GRANT.
<br />WHEREAS, the South Bend Common Council adopted a resolution authorizing the City of
<br />South Bend, Indiana, to file an application with the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
<br />(herein called the "Secretary ") for a grant to assist it in planning and developing a compre-
<br />hensive city demonstration program, and
<br />WHEREAS, such application has been duly filed and has been approved by the Secretary
<br />and,
<br />WHEREAS, the Secretary has tendered a proposed contract under which the United States
<br />of America (herein called the "Government ") agrees to make a grant to pay the lesser of
<br />$134,000 or 800% of the costs of planning and developing of a comprehensive city demonstration
<br />program,
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend,
<br />as follows:
<br />Section 1. The proposed Contract, designated "Contract for Planning Grant for a
<br />Comprehensive City Demonstration Program ", consisting of Parts I and II, under which the Govern-
<br />ment will make a grant to the City of South Bend, Indiana, to aid in the planning and developing
<br />of a comprehensive city demonstration program pursuant to Section 104 of the Demonstration
<br />Cities and Metropolitan Development Act of 1966, is hereby approved.
<br />Section 2. The Mayor, Lloyd M. Allen of the City of South Bend, Indiana, or his
<br />lawful successor is hereby authorized and directed to execute said.proposed Contract and is
<br />further authorized to execute amendments to said Contract, provided such amendments do riot "in-
<br />crease the monetary obligation of the City of South Bend, Indiana. The Mayor, Lloyd M. Allen,
<br />is hereby authorized and directed to impress and attest the official seal on the necessary
<br />counterparts of said proposed Contract and any amendments thereto, and forward such counter-
<br />parts to the Secretary for execution on behalf of the Government, together with such other
<br />documents relative to the approval and execution thereof, as well as to this Resolution as may
<br />be required by the Government.
<br />Section 3. Mayor Lloyd M. Allen, or his lawful successor, is hereby authorized to
<br />file requisitions, together with necessary supporting documents, with the Government, from
<br />time to time as grant funds are required, requesting payments to be made on account of the grant
<br />provided for ih -said Contract, and to do and perform all other things and acts required to be
<br />done or performed in order to obtain such payments.
<br />Section 4. The City of South Bend, Indiana, hereby gives its assurance that the
<br />necessary non- Federal share of the cost of the planning activities, undertaken pursuant to its
<br />application as modified and the grant contract, will be duly provided.
<br />Section 5. This Resolution shall take effect immediately.
