<br />ORDINANCE
<br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
<br />WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
<br />AND HERSEY PRODUCTS, INC., DEDHAM, MASSACHUSETTS,
<br />FOR THE PURCHASE OF AN ASSORTMENT OF WATER METERS
<br />FOR USE FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1972 TO FEBRUARY 7, 1973
<br />IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,180.00.
<br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and
<br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Mrs. Frederick Mutzl, 320 Parkovash,
<br />asked if all the meters will be used and if they are different. Mr. Krueper answered that they
<br />are different sizes and that it is necessary to keep various sizes ready for use as needed.
<br />Councilman Horvath made a motion that the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable, seconded
<br />by Councilman Serge, and carried.
<br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
<br />WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
<br />AND ROCKWELL MANUFACTURING COMPANY, MELROSE
<br />PARK, ILLINOIS, FOR THE PURCHASE OF AN ASSORTMENT
<br />OF WATER METERS FOR USE FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1972
<br />TO FEBRUARY 7, 1973, IN THE AMOUNT OF $35,678.00.
<br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and
<br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. Councilman Kopczynski made a motion that the
<br />Ordinance go to the Council as favorable, seconded by Councilman Parent, and carried.

<br />AND ASHLAND CHEMICAL COMPANY OF SOUTH BEND,
<br />INDIANA FOR THE PURCHASE OF CHEMICALS FOR USE
<br />FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1972 TO FEBRUARY 7, 1973 IN
<br />THE AMOUNT OF $8,136.00.
<br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and
<br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. Councilman Serge made a motion that the
<br />ordinance go to the Council as favorable. The motion was seconded by Councilman Parent and was
<br />carried.
<br />ORDINANCE AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
<br />WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
<br />AND MID -STATE CHEMICAL & SUPPLY CORPORATION,
<br />INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA, FOR THE PURCHASE OF
<br />CHEMICALS FOR USE FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1972 TO
<br />FEBRUARY 7, 1973 IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,125.00.
<br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and
<br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Herbert A. Schiller, M.D., 1813 East
<br />Cedar Street, and Chairman of the South Bend Citizens Committee for Fluoridation, spoke in
<br />favor of adding fluoride to South Bend's water. Speaking against fluoridation were: Mrs. Fannie
<br />Grunwald, 227 S. Frances Street; Frederick Mutzl, 320 Parkovash; Mrs. Frederick Mutzl, 320
<br />Parkovash; Leo Wallisch, 446 LaPorte Avenue; Mike Vellner, 1133 N. Adams Street; Dr. Helen M.
<br />Calvin, 103 S. Eddy Street; Mrs. Janet Allen, 125 W. Marion Street; and Councilman Walter
<br />Szymkowiak. Councilman Taylor Made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable,
<br />seconded by Councilman Horvath, and carried.

<br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT'BETWEEN THE
<br />WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
<br />AND INLAND CHEMICAL CORPORATIOV, SOUTH BEND,
<br />INDIANA FOR THE PURCHASE OF CHEMICALS FOR USE
<br />FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1972 TO FEBRUARY 7, 1973 IN
<br />THE AMOUNT OF $6,811.50.
<br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and
<br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Horvath made a motion that
<br />the Ordinance go to the Council as favorable, seconded by Councilman Kopczynski. Motion carried.
<br />ORDINANCE
<br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE
<br />WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA,
<br />AND BADGER METER MANUFACTURING COMPANY, MILWAUKEE,
<br />WISCONSIN, FOR THE PURCHASE OF AN ASSORTMENT OF
<br />WATER METERS FOR USE FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1972 TO
<br />FEBRUARY 2, 1972 IN THE AMOUNT OF $210,212.36.
<br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and
<br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Councilman Kopczynski made a motion
<br />that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable, seconded by Councilman Serge. Motion carried.
<br />There being no further business to be considered before the Committee of the Whole, Chairman
<br />Newburn entertained a motion to rise and report to the Council, so moved by Councilman Nemeth,
<br />seconded by Councilman Kopczynski. Motion carried. Time 8:55 p.m.
