REGULAR MEETING <br />+ + + + ' +- +' 1 +` 1 +­1 + + + + + + + + + + + + + + + <br />FEBRUARY 28, 1972 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana met in the Council <br />Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, February 28, 1972 at 8:01 p.m. The meeting <br />was called to order by President Peter J. Nemeth who asked everyone to stand and give the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. The Invocation was offered by Reverent Marty Rini, Assistant <br />Pastor of Holy Cross Catholic Church, South Bend, Indiana. <br />ROLL CALL <br />PRESENT: Councilmen Serge, Szymkowiak, Miller, Parent, Taylor, Kopczynski, <br />Horvath, Newburn and Nemeth. <br />ABSENT: None <br />RESOLVE INTO THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />Council President Nemeth entertained a motion to resolve into the Committee of the Whole. <br />Councilman Parent so moved, seconded by Councilman Miller, Motion carried. <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE MEETING <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana met in the Committee <br />of the Whole in the Council Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, February 28, 1972 at <br />8:04 p.m. with nine members present. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Odell Newburn, <br />who presided. <br />ORDINANCE <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE <br />WATER WORKS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />AND GAMON- CALMET INDUSTRIES, INC., FLORENCE, <br />KENTUCKY FOR THEoPURCHASE OF AN ASSORTMENT OF <br />WATER METERS FOR USE FROM FEBRUARY 7, 1972 TO <br />FEBRUARY 7, 1973, IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,886.24. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above ordinance, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard thereon. Mr. Paul Krueper, Utilities Superin- <br />tendent, explained that this and the other ordinances scheduled for public hearing tonight <br />cover the purchase of a variety of water meters and valves and chemicals for use by the Water <br />Works. Miss Virginia Guthrie of the South Bend Civic Planning Association, asked Mr. Krueper <br />if these contracts were the same ones submitted to the old Council and held over for this year. <br />Mr. Krueper replied that they were and that bids were taken on these contracts in 1971. <br />Councilman Szymkowiak made a motion that the ordinance go to the Council as favorable, seconded <br />by Councilman Kopczynski. Motion carried. <br />
