<br />The mayor indicated an error had been made on the proposed ordinance and the salary for the
<br />position of traffic supervisor should be $5.08 per hour. He said that under Municipal Servile
<br />Facility, the positions of Stock Clerk II and Stock Clerk I should be removed, since listed in
<br />another place on the proposed ordinance. The mayor requested consideration be given to the fol-
<br />lowing positions; deputy director of Community Development, since that position is assistant to
<br />the head of the department; city attorney and deputy city attorney, since improvements have been
<br />made in that department and they will save the City money in the future; building commissioner,
<br />since that position is now vacant and it must be filled by a professional engineer, as well as
<br />changes that are going to be made in that department as far as duties are concerned; the adminis
<br />trative assistant to the Mayor, since there is a well qualified person in that position at prese
<br />and if 'he should leave he would not hire someone to replace him at that figure without discuss
<br />it with the Council; mayor's receptionist, since this position has assumed additional duties of
<br />the Mayor's Action Center. Council Member Kcpczynski made a motion to amend the ordinance in ac-
<br />cordance with the administration's request, seconded by Council President Parent. The motion
<br />carried. Council President Parent asked if this had to be handled by separate motions, and ther
<br />was an indication they should be handled separately. Council Member Kopczynski made a motion to
<br />amend the Community Development ordinance as per the request of the administration, seconded by
<br />Council President Parent. The motion carried, Council Member Miller opposing. Council Member
<br />Kopczynski made a motion to amend the Civil City employee's salary ordinance as per the request
<br />of the administration, seconded by Council President Parent. The motion carried, Council Member
<br />Miller opposing.
<br />Council President Parent indicated the job of coming up with a salary ordinance that is acceptabl
<br />is not an easy one. He said the proposals he was going to make would reduce some of the salaries
<br />and recommend an increase of certain salaries at the lower end of the scale. Council President
<br />Parent made a motion that the Community'Development ordinance be amended,-as follows;
<br />Deputy Director $15,500 Inspector I $9,470
<br />Urban "Planner 13,216 Bureau of Housing Director 16,000.-

<br />remove the positions of Intergovernmental Coordinator and Financial Officer; seconded by Council
<br />Member Serge. Council Member Kopczynski indicated he thought it unfair to vote on the entire
<br />package since members of theCouncil might not agree with one or two changes. Council President
<br />Parent indicated he was just presenting these amendments in this form and any Council Member cowl
<br />amend further. The motion carried, Council Members Miller and Kopczynski opposing.

<br />removed Chief Inspector, Assistant Manager of Solid Waste, and Court Liaison. Council President
<br />Parent's motion was seconded by Council Member Taylor. The motion carried, Council Member Miller
<br />opposing.

<br />Council Member Adams asked the Chair if he would accept additional amendments at this time. Coun it
<br />Member Horvath indicated he would. Council Member Adams indicated she would like her amendments
<br />handled separately, however, the Chair indicated they should be handled in a package like the
<br />others were handled.
