Beck <br />Council Member Taylor read this resolution. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1101 -83 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING <br />RAYMOND C. ZIELINSKI FOR HIS DEDICATED SERVICE <br />AS A SIXTH DISTRICT COUNCILMAN SINCE 1981 <br />WHEREAS, the South Bend Common Council notes with pride the date of May 13, <br />1981, when Raymond C. Zielinski received the unanimous vote of the Precinct Committeemen <br />to fill the vacated Council seat for the Sixth District; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana recognizes that <br />Raymond C. Zielinski has diligently served the citizens of South Bend and in particular <br />the citizens of the Sixth District since his election; and <br />WHEREAS, during this period of time Councilman Zielinski has served in many <br />capacities, such as, Committee of the Whole Chairman, past Chairman of the Utilities <br />Committee, Chairman of the Codification Committee, Chairman of the Public Works Committee, <br />Chairman of the Studebaker Museum Committee, and Chairman of the Snow Removal Committee <br />which even managed to bring a mild winter to our area last year; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council hopes that Councilman Zielinski will continue to <br />stay active in public service activities and will continue to make our City a better <br />place to live and work. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. On behalf of the citizens of South Bend, Indiana, and in particular <br />the citizens of the Sixth District, the Common Council hereby publicly commends Council <br />Raymond C. Zielinski for his dedicated public service as Sixth District Councilman, <br />and say "Dziekuje." <br />SECTION II. The Common Council publicly acknowledges Councilman Zielinski's <br />many contributions to improve the quality of life in South Bend and wishes him and <br />his wife Lorraine, continued good fortune in the years ahead. <br />SECTION III. Crone <br />Council Member Beck read this resolution. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1102 -83 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING <br />LEWIS A MCGANN FOR HIS FOUR YEARS OF DEDICATED <br />SERVICE AS A COUNCILMAN FOR THE FOURTH DISTRICT <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes that <br />Lewis A. McGann has diligently served the citizens of South Bend and in particular <br />the citizens of the Fourth District since 1980; and <br />WHEREAS, during this period of time, Councilman McGann served as President of <br />the City Council for three years; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council recognizes with pride some of Councilman McGann's <br />many contributions which included: co- sponsoring the "budget reform" or "truth in <br />spending" ordinance: helping to negotiate the first 3 -year police and fire wage package <br />in the history of the City; sponsoring the ordinance to regulate outdoor motion picture <br />theaters through licensing; assisting in reforming all City licensing procedures; and <br />instituting a mandatory review of all City utility rates on a regular basis; and <br />
