Life IS On I Schneider
OEIectric
Option A Lighting: Methodology and Savings Summary
The following section was included in an earlier report. It is reprinted here for consistency and to provide a full
picture of Year 1 savings.
Schneider Electric employed the "Option A— Partially Measured Retrofit Isolation" method as described in the
International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) when determining the energy
savings resulting from the lighting retrofits.
The Option A method required the lighting fixture power consumption for both pre -retrofit fixtures and post -
retrofit fixtures to be measured. Measurements of the fixture types listed in Schedule D of the Energy Services
Contract were taken once during the installation period and will not be repeated. There was one pre -retrofit
and one post -retrofit fixture type that weren't measured. The expected wattages for those and other non -
measured fixture types were used in the calculations. All measurements can be found in Appendix A.
Once taken, the measurements were combined with the estimated burn hours detailed in Schedule D to
determine the amount of energy saved. The equations and methods used are also described in Schedule D.
Appendix A shows all of the components and calculations used to compute the savings and the total calculated
energy and cost savings per retrofit in the rightmost columns.
The cost savings achieved were calculated using energy rates listed in Schedule D. The table below shows a
summary of the total fixture retrofit consumption and dollar savings by building.
Police Station
48,817
11
$6,149
City Hall
9,133
4
$1,529
Transit Building
19,233
7
$2,951
Park Admin
14,809
6
$2,272
East Plant
635
1
$221
Fire Station 1
25,721
5
$3,126
Fire Station 2
6,673
1
$1,024
City
183,170
0
$8,604
Total
308,191
34
$25, 877
