General: This section outlines the health and safety requirements to be followed by <br />the Contractor during the performance of the work specified. If a conflict occurs <br />between these requirements and current regulations, the more stringent shall apply. <br /> <br />b. Safety: Contractor shall comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, <br />ordinances, rules, and regulations (including the Occupational Safety and Health Act <br />of 1970 and the regulations issued thereunder). <br /> <br />c. Contractor's Responsibilities: <br />1) The Contractor is solely responsible for the health, safety, and protection of <br />its on-site personnel during the performance of the work. The Contractor <br />shall perform the work specified in these contract documents in accordance <br />with the Health and Safety Requirements specified herein. It shall be the <br />responsibility of the Contractor to be familiar with the required health and <br />safety regulations in the performance of this work. <br />2) The Contractor shall have a working knowledge of federal and state <br />occupational safety and health regulations. <br />3) Should any unforeseen or site-specific safety related factor, hazard, or <br />condition become evident during the performance of the work, the <br />Contractor shall take immediate action to establish and maintain safe <br />working conditions and to safeguard site personnel, the public, and the <br />environment. The Contractor shall also immediately inform the Architect of <br />such a condition. <br />4) The Contractor shall provide safe pedestrian passage during the <br />construction period and coordinate all security and protection facilities with <br />the Owner. <br /> <br />d. Work Areas: The Contractor shall clearly lay out and identify work areas or zones <br />and shall limit equipment, operations and personnel access in the areas as <br />described below. <br /> <br />e. Housekeeping: All work wash areas shall be maintained in a well kept and tidy <br />condition. Particular attention must be paid to work in public areas with potential <br />access by vehicles or pedestrians. Road and walkways must be kept clear as <br />possible. Cones or caution tape should be used to demarcate work areas and <br />danger zones. <br /> <br /> 8. Maintenance and Removal: <br /> <br />a. Maintain temporary facilities and controls as long as needed for safe and proper <br />completion of the Work. <br /> <br />b. Remove such temporary facilities and controls as rapidly as progress of the Work <br />will permit, or as directed by the Architect or Owner's Representative. <br /> <br />c. The Contractor shall adequately protect the work, adjacent property and the public <br />and shall be responsible for any damage or injury due to his act or neglect. <br /> <br />d. The Contractor shall provide for and document proper disposal of any materials and <br />facilities which are disposed during or after the project, refuse, equipment, etc. <br /> <br /> <br />END OF SECTION 01500
