Reference Standard Specifications: Where products (material and equipment) are <br />specified only by reference standard, provide products complying with standard. <br />1) If reference standard is followed by description of a product’s special <br />features, or performance criteria modify “Standard or Custom Products” to <br />fully comply with the description of the specified product’s special features <br />or performance criteria. <br /> <br />b. Descriptive Specifications: Where products (material and equipment) are <br />specified by indicating a detailed description of the required properties, minimum <br />attributes, special features, or performance criteria required, provide products <br />complying with the specified description. <br />1) If a descriptive specification is followed by a list of specified manufacturers <br />or specified products, select a product from only those listed. <br />2) If a manufacturer’s standard product is listed in the specification and does <br />not comply with the minimum description indicated, make modifications to <br />the “Standard or Custom Product” to make the product fully comply with <br />the description of the specified product’s special features, or performance <br />criteria. <br />3) If a list of specified manufacturers includes the following statement <br />“Comparable Architect approved manufacturers”, then select product <br />from only manufacturers listed in the Project Manual or addenda <br />complying with the minimum attributes, special features, or performance <br />criteria. <br /> <br />c. Proprietary Specifications: Where the desired products (material and equipment) <br />are indicated by a specific manufacturer’s name, brand name, model number, type <br />designation, or other unique characteristics, provide only products listed in the <br />original Project Manual or addenda. <br />1) Where indicated in the Project Manual as “No Substitution”, quotes must <br />be based on the specific named product only. <br /> <br />d. The design layout, space allocations, connection details, performance criteria, etc., <br />are based on specifically identified proprietary products identified in B. Products: <br />of each specification section. <br /> <br />e. Other manufacturers, even if listed as “Acceptable Manufacturers”, shall comply <br />with the minimum levels of material, detailing, and dimensional restrictions <br />established by the proprietary product. <br /> <br />5. Substitution Time Frame and Considerations: <br /> <br />a. Pre-Quote Substitutions (Prior Approval): <br />1) Submittal Time Limit: Not less than 10 days before Quotes are due. <br />2) Consideration: Substitution will only be considered if submitted by an <br />invited Contractor and each request includes the information listed under <br />“Consideration Requirements” Article specified below. <br />3) Failure to complete “Substitution Request Form” or submit requested <br />information is grounds for rejection. <br /> <br />
