a <br />a <br />o <br />a <br />collection to final disposition of the specimen <br />lndividual Privacy <br />Collection procedures shall allow urine specimens to be provided by <br />the individual in private, unless there is reason to believe that the <br />individual may alter or substitute the specimen. <br />An employee may also be required to provide a urine specimen under <br />direct observation in the event specimen adulteration is suspected. <br />However, a higher-level supervisor of the collection site person, or a <br />designated employer representative, shall review and concur in <br />advance with any decision by a collection site person to obtain a <br />specimen under the direct observation of a same gender collection site <br />person based upon the circumstances described above. <br />lf the sample is being collected from an employee in need of medical <br />attention (e.9., as part of post-accident test given in an emergency <br />medicalfacility), necessary medical attention shall not be delayed in <br />order to collect the specimen. <br />Specimen lntegrity And ldentity <br />Visu-Sewer, the employee and the collection site shall take <br />appropriate precautions to preserve the integrity and identity of the <br />urine specimen by ensuring that it is not adulterated or diluted during <br />the collection procedure and that the urine specimen tested is that of <br />the person from whom it was collected. Collection site personnel will <br />be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the specimen collection <br />and transfer process, but employees are expected to cooperate with <br />collection site personnel and to exercise good faith in conjunction with <br />the specimen collection procedures. <br />Split Sample Procedures <br />Visu-Sewer will use a split sample collection procedure. As a result, <br />there must be a sufficient volume of each specimen to allow for it to be <br />subdivided, secured and labeled in the presence of the tested <br />individual and retained in a secured manner to prevent the possibility <br />of tampering. This will allow an individual the opportunity to request a <br />retest of the specimen by an appropriate laboratory in accordance this <br />Policy. <br />Transportation To Laboratory <br />Collection site personnel shall arrange to ship the collected specimens <br />to the drug testing laboratory. The specimens shall be placed in a <br />container designed to minimize the possibility of damage during <br />shipment (e.9., specimen boxes and/or padded mailers); and those <br />containers shall be securely sealed to eliminate the possibility of <br />35
