1101 WASHINGTON BLVD., DETROIT, MI
This project was demolition of a
seven -story office and mixed use
building in Detroit, Ml, starting in MW
June 2022 and ending in September
IN
2022. The building was less than 18
inches away from a building that is
part of the transit system and houses
a major bus depot, as well as the
People Mover. We had to factor in,4, - - ,-
the downtown location, height of the
building, high -traffic roadways and
close proximity to a major public -
transit station. Fencing was installed,
and the roof and siding of the adjacent building was protected. Hand demolition of
the block wall and parapets was done to the adjacent building which remained
active. Traffic control and barricades were put up to close one lane of traffic on 2
sides of the building. The building was demolished mechanically down to the
basement slab. Debris was
processed, sorted and loaded out
for disposal and recycling. We
relocated the fence back onto the
site and reopened the surrounding
i10 1 driving lanes. Backfill was done to
~'ram'; grade, surrounding sidewalks and
,..mom.
_ . mwmj parking lot was removed and final
OF site sweep up and equipment was
demobilized. This project had
4,000 tons of concrete and hard fill
'C recycled, 350 tons of scrap metal
Y p
recycled, all done ahead of
schedule, within budget and with
zero incidents or injuries.
