REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 10, 2000 <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Sniadecki gave special attention to the needs of city <br />employees as evidenced by his hearings on the "snow day issue" brought to his attention by <br />members of the Teamsters Union; and <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Sniadecki will be remembered for his sincere commitment <br />to everyday citizens of our community for whom he fought and championed their causes. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South <br />Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />Section I. On behalf of all the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common <br />Council thanks ROD SNIADECKI for his three (3) years of service as a Council Member at Large <br />for the City of South Bend. <br />Section II. The Common Council wishes Rod continued success in his law career and in the <br />many new challenges in the year 2000 and beyond. <br />Section III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by <br />the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />s /James Aranowski, First District <br />s/David A. Luecke, Mayor <br />A presentation was not made on this Resolution as Mr. Sniadecki was not able to be present to <br />accept the Resolution. Therefore, Councilmember Varner made a motion to adopt this Resolution. <br />Councilmember Kelly seconded the motion which carried by acclamation. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2825-00 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING <br />SEAN COLEMAN FOR TWO YEARS OF SERVICE AS <br />THE COUNCIL PRESIDENT <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council notes that §2 -6 of the South Bend Municipal Code sets <br />forth the duties of the Council President, some of which include: <br />1. Presiding over all regular, special and informal meetings of the Council, <br />2. Preserving strict order and decorum, <br />3. Deciding all questions of order, <br />4. Appointing all standing committees, <br />5. Appointing all special committees which may be ordered by the Council, <br />6. Filling all vacancies which may occur in any of the standing committees, and <br />7. Performing any function proper and necessary for the effective and efficient <br />operation of the office as deemed in the public interest; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council further notes that Council Member Sean Coleman was elected as <br />the Council President for calendar year 1998 and again for calendar year 1999 and diligently carried <br />out all of the Council President's statutory duties; and <br />
