REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 10, 2000 WHEREAS, Council Member Sniadecki gave special attention to the needs of city employees as evidenced by his hearings on the "snow day issue" brought to his attention by members of the Teamsters Union; and WHEREAS, Council Member Sniadecki will be remembered for his sincere commitment to everyday citizens of our community for whom he fought and championed their causes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: Section I. On behalf of all the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council thanks ROD SNIADECKI for his three (3) years of service as a Council Member at Large for the City of South Bend. Section II. The Common Council wishes Rod continued success in his law career and in the many new challenges in the year 2000 and beyond. Section III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. s /James Aranowski, First District s/David A. Luecke, Mayor A presentation was not made on this Resolution as Mr. Sniadecki was not able to be present to accept the Resolution. Therefore, Councilmember Varner made a motion to adopt this Resolution. Councilmember Kelly seconded the motion which carried by acclamation. RESOLUTION NO. 2825-00 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING SEAN COLEMAN FOR TWO YEARS OF SERVICE AS THE COUNCIL PRESIDENT WHEREAS, the Common Council notes that §2 -6 of the South Bend Municipal Code sets forth the duties of the Council President, some of which include: 1. Presiding over all regular, special and informal meetings of the Council, 2. Preserving strict order and decorum, 3. Deciding all questions of order, 4. Appointing all standing committees, 5. Appointing all special committees which may be ordered by the Council, 6. Filling all vacancies which may occur in any of the standing committees, and 7. Performing any function proper and necessary for the effective and efficient operation of the office as deemed in the public interest; and WHEREAS, the Council further notes that Council Member Sean Coleman was elected as the Council President for calendar year 1998 and again for calendar year 1999 and diligently carried out all of the Council President's statutory duties; and
