PARENT, Mayor <br />COUNTY -CITY BUILDING <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 <br />November 28, 1983 <br />2191284.9322 <br />I've filed an ordinance for first reading of the December 5th <br />Council Meeting approving a contract between Autocon Industries Inc. <br />and the South Bend Board of Water Commissioners. At this time I'm <br />requesting suspension of the rules, second reading and public hearing <br />on the matter. It is very important that the contract be approved <br />during 1983, as the majority of funding was provided in the 1983 <br />Water Works Depreciation Budget. If that contract is not approved <br />in 1983, I cannot encumber funding to start the project. <br />I apologize for bringing this ordinance to the Council at this <br />late date, but frankly bids were not opened until October 17, 1983 <br />and the tentative award was not made until November 21, 1983. <br />Therefore, it would have been difficult to award earlier due to the <br />time needed for detailed bid review. <br />Thank you for your anticipated cooperation in completing this <br />ordinance at the December 5, 1983 Common Council Meeting.
