REGULAR MEETING DECEMBER 8, 2003 <br />Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council <br />hereby publicly honors the 4TH DISTRICT COUNCIL MEMBER KARL KING for his tenacious <br />and dedicated leadership in creatively addressing issues and providing probative analysis in <br />suggesting workable solutions to a variety of municipal concerns. <br />Section II. The Common Council commends 4TH DISTRICT COUNCIL MEMBER KARL <br />KING for his many contributions to the South Bend community, which are far too many to list in this <br />Resolution; and wish him many great fishing trips to Minnesota as well as many memorable times <br />together with his wife, Margaret, in the years ahead as they enjoy trips to Palm Springs and other <br />places which they both enjoy. <br />Section III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by <br />the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />s /James Aranowski, First District s /Ervin Kuspa, Sixth District <br />s /Charlotte D. Luecke, Mayor <br />Councilmember Charlotte Pfeifer made the presentation for this Resolution by reading it in its <br />entirety and presenting it to Councilmember King. <br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br />There was no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to this <br />Resolution. <br />Councilmember King stated that serving and working with the residents of the 4th District has been <br />a rewarding part of the job. He also stated that he appreciated the honor of this Resolution but even <br />more he appreciated having served the last five (5) years with this Council. Councilmember King <br />noted that it has impressed him that members of the Council worked together as partners linked <br />together by a common thread of principal and dedication to an ideal which is best expressed as <br />saying that good government is the power of community inaction. The theory of social justice made <br />real is what he has been able to experience being on the Council. Councilmember King thanked the <br />Council for the Resolution and the honor associated with it and thanked them for the privilege of <br />working with the Council for the last five (5) years. <br />Councilmember Coleman made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation. Councilmember <br />Varner seconded the motion which carried. <br />Councilmembers Kirsits and Kelly offered comments and thanked Councilmember King for his <br />years of dedication as a great leader to the residents of the 4th District and the entire City. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3275 -03 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING <br />LORETTA J.
