Luecke, Mayor <br />Councilmember Sean Coleman, 4319 Foxfire Drive, South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for <br />this Resolution by first offering his comments and then reading the Resolution in its entirety and <br />presenting it to Councilmember Aranowski. <br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br />There was no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to this <br />Resolution. <br />Councilmember Aranowski thanked the employees of the City of South Bend, City Clerk Loretta <br />Duda and her staff, the Mayor, members of the Council and especially the residents of the First <br />District for whom it was a privilege to serve. <br />Additionally, Councilmembers White, Kelly, Pfeifer, Kirsits and Kuspa offered comments and <br />thanked Councilmember Aranowski for his years of service on the Council. <br />Councilmember King made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation. Councilmember <br />Kirsits seconded the motion which carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3274 -03 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING <br />KARL KING FOR HIS DEDICATED YEARS OF SERVICE <br />AS THE FOURTH DISTRICT COUNCIL MEMBER <br />WHEREAS, the South Bend Common Council is proud to honor Karl King, who succeeded <br />John Broden in representing the residents of the 4th Councilmanic District; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council recognizes that as the Chairperson of the Community and <br />Economic Development Committee, Council Member King has been the leader in overhauling the <br />City's tax abatement ordinance by developing a system which promotes positive development <br />throughout the city —from plain vanilla to a decadent hot fudge sundae; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council would also like to recognize Council Member King's leadership <br />in chairing the Information and Technology Committee and spearheading a comprehensive survey <br />of the City's computer hardware and software needs; and <br />WHEREAS, as President of the Area Plan Commission of St. Joseph County, Council <br />Member Karl King has provided invaluable insight into the proposed new zoning ordinance which <br />will impact zoning uses and proposed development throughout the City of South Bend for decades <br />to come; and <br />WHEREAS, Council Member King has been a true public servant who has dedicated his <br />time and many talents to being the Chairperson of the Council's Committee of the Whole; and who <br />has been a key player in spearheading the Northeast Neighborhood Revitalization Organization <br />(NNRO) to "ensure neighborhood stability and sustainability for the benefit of current and future <br />residents and business owners" by stimulating "private sector investment within the neighborhood <br />by improving the "overall livability of the Northeast Neighborhood ". <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />-3- <br />
