provided for backwash expansion above the normal ion exchange resin bed level. <br />2. Provide cold-set epoxy internal lining with a minimum of 10-12 mils DFT. <br />3. Provide epoxy finish over exterior tank and valve surfaces. <br />4. Upper Distributor: <br />a. The upper distribution system shall be a single point baffle constructed <br />to evenly disperse water over softening media. <br />5. Lower Distributor: <br />a. The lower distributor system shall be of the hub and radial type design, <br />with slotted full flow non-corroding, non-clogging replaceable strainers <br />and covered with a subfill of washed gravel. <br />6. Main Controller/Valve Unit (one per tank): <br />a. Self contained, automated and communicating package with all timing <br />and sequencing controls for each softener. Clack WS3. Valve shall be <br />lead free brass. Complete with back-lighted LCD touch screen with key <br />pad. Manufacturer to provide required interconnecting cables, <br />programming and MODBUS communications. An automatic backwash <br />control shall be provided to maintain a proper backwash and fast flush <br />flows over wide variations of operating pressure. <br />b. The controls shall include an automatic regeneration timer having the <br />capability of providing site adjustable regeneration steps of backwash, <br />brine injection, brine displacement, flush and return to service. Screen <br />shall display the current status of the system. <br />c. Controllers shall also allow metered water activation and time of day <br />delay function. <br />7. Brine System: <br />a. The brine system shall be platform type with a dry salt storage <br />compartment and a saturated brine compartment sufficient for at least <br />four regenerations at full salting. The tank shall be of polyethylene <br />construction (3/8"), or fiberglass (3/16"), with cover. Complete with <br />required float controls and related accessories. <br />8. Resin: <br />a. Resin shall be of a premium grade high capacity selected for enhanced <br />iron removal capabilities in addition to softening. It shall be stable over <br />the entire pH range, have good resistance to bead fracture, and be <br />15420 - 2
