SECTION 15420 <br />WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM <br />PART 1: GENERAL <br />1.1 SCOPE <br />A. Revised domestic water system, for installation of water softening equipment. <br />1.2 ELECTRICAL <br />A. All electrical equipment furnished under this Section of the Specifications shall conform <br />to applicable provisions of Division 16, Electrical Specifications. <br />B. Provide control wiring as required for a complete operational system, as recommended <br />by the unit manufacturer. <br />PART 2: PRODUCTS <br />2.1 PIPE AND FITTINGS <br />A. Refer to Section 15110. <br />2.2 WATER SOFTENER <br />A. Acceptable Manufacturers: <br />1. Puritan System with Clack controllers <br />2. Approved equal <br />B. Furnish and install, as shown on the Drawings, commercial type water softening <br />equipment of the high capacity, resin mineral type consisting of triple pressure units and <br />a single salt tank with the necessary controls for fully automatic operation, together with <br />all needed auxiliaries as specified or shown on the Plans, including the necessary pipes, <br />valves and fittings. The system shall be factory assembled, and fabricated by a <br />manufacturer regularly engaged in the production of water treatment equipment. <br />C. Softener shell shall be constructed of best grade tank steel, welded construction. Shell <br />shall be provided with supporting legs, necessary pipe connections, and built-in <br />distributor and collector system. <br />D. Equipment: <br />1. The tank(s) shall have threaded openings for pipe connections andshall be rated <br />for a minimum of 100 psig working pressure and 150 psig test pressure. The <br />tank(s) shall have their exterior and interior protected with a hot dipped <br />galvanized application after fabrication. A minimum freeboard of 50% shall be <br />15420 - 1
