Roadway profiles are not included, since it will be milled and resurfaced.
Basic design elements will include the following features and/or amenities:
▪ Mill and resurface of existing roadway pavement.
▪ New curbs along Ewing Avenue between Webster and S. Walnut Street.
▪ New sidewalks on the north side of Ewing Avenue.
▪ New sidewalk connections to the north into Walker Field Park to Walker Field Pavilion, an
existing shelter/restroom facility, which will be renovated in a separate Project.
▪ Raised intersections at Webster, S. Walnut Street, and the mid-block crossing. Include special
paving treatments at all crosswalks.
▪ New ADA compliant curb ramps (where required). Truncated domes will be planned for raised
intersections where ramps are not required.
▪ New asphalt multi-use trail along the south side of W. Ewing Avenue extending from S. Gertrude
Street to the Rum Village Park Road entrance along W. Ewing Avenue
▪ New sidewalks and/or trail connection to the south into Rum Village Park. Multiple options will be
provided for consideration.
▪ Curb extension features to protect the parking lane on the north side of Ewing Avenue and at
intersections for traffic calming, reduced pedestrian crossing distance, stormwater treatment,
and/or to create space for landscape features.
▪ Storm drainage improvements will be kept to a minimum using existing stormwater infrastructure,
stormwater planters where appropriate in bumpouts, and runoff into adjacent parks.
▪ Street trees within the tree lawn between the multi-use trail and the street keeping in mind the
height requirements with adjacent overhead utility lines in place.

Design, Engineering, and Landscape Architecture
After the survey is complete, Engineer will move into the schematic design phase, which will include the
following tasks:
▪ Engineer will prepare a draft edge of pavement based on the conceptual masterplan provided by
the OWNER and conversations had about the Project. This set will include up to (3) options for a
pedestrian connection into Rum Village Park. Engineer will meet with the OWNER in-person to
review the draft preliminary layout and to discuss the Rum Village Park connectivity options.
▪ Engineer will visit the Project area to confirm the survey and proposed layout.
▪ Initial OWNER comments from the initial meeting will be incorporated into a revised design. The
revised design will include a layout plan and preliminary grading. The revised design, as well as a
preliminary opinion of estimated cost, will be presented to the OWNER for input via a virtual
conference call to ensure initial cost estimates fall within desired Project budget.
▪ Engineer will provide a color plan rendering at this time for stakeholder coordination with adjacent
neighborhoods. The OWNER will handle all public engagement required for the Project.
▪ Final OWNER comments regarding the layout, connections into Rum Village Park, and budget
will be collected and incorporated at this point to create a final preliminary design.
▪ The final preliminary design will be used as the precedent for the development of a 30% schematic
design plan set, which will be presented at a final OWNER meeting. A digital and hard copy
submittal will be made at this time. Any changes to the schematic design plans after final OWNER
comments are received would constitute additional services.

Permitting
Engineer will prepare the following permits for submittal and approval:
▪ Construction Stormwater Regional General Permit
