<br />Preventive Maintenance of Angela Boulevard Bridge <br />Over St. Joseph River January 2023 <br /> 7 <br /> <br />2. All necessary traffic control signs and barricades used during construction <br />shall conform to Section 801 and the Indiana Manual on Uniform Traffic <br />Control Devices for Streets and Highways. Traffic control devices shall be <br />erected and maintained in accordance with the INDOT Standard Drawings, <br />and current revisions thereto. <br /> <br />3. The Contractor shall be required to furnish all advance construction signs and <br />barricades as maybe required or otherwise shown on the plans. These shall <br />remain the Contractor's property. Only those signs and barricades listed as <br />pay items in the proposal will be paid for separately. All other signs and <br />barricades not specifically provided as pay items are to be included in the <br />lump sum price for Maintaining Traffic. <br /> <br />4. Unless prior written approval is received, no work shall be permitted on <br />Federal or State recognized holiday weekends from noon Friday until sunrise <br />Monday. <br /> <br />5. Open excavations and trenches shall have temporary safety fencing enclosing <br />the area to prevent access by unauthorized people. The safety fence shall be <br />bright orange made of high-density polyethylene grid or approved equal a <br />minimum of 42-inches high supported and tightly secured to steel posts on <br />10-foot centers. Fencing shall be removed upon completion of work in the <br />area. Do not stockpile material or spoil outside fenced areas in preparation <br />for the next day's work. <br /> <br />6. All closures and/or road restrictions shall be coordinated with public safety <br />and local school officials. <br /> <br />7. Access to all businesses and residences for all postal deliveries and all <br />emergency traffic (police, fire, medical, etc.) within the project limits shall be <br />maintained at all times. <br /> <br />8. Notification shall be given a minimum of 48 hours prior to all road closures <br />and for road restrictions. Proposed deviations from the plans shall be in <br />writing to the Engineer for approval. <br /> <br />9. Pedestrian accessibility shall be provided and maintained in accordance with <br />107.08 during the construction of the project where sidewalks and curb <br />ramps exist. However, due to full bridge closure, bridge sidewalks will be <br />closed to pedestrians during construction. <br /> <br />10. The signalized intersection at Angela Boulevard and North Shore Drive shall <br />flash red during the bridge closure period. Contractor shall coordinate with <br />the City of South Bend and St. Joseph County for adjustment of the Angela <br />Boulevard and North Shore Drive signalized intersection during construction. <br />The Point of Contact for the City of South Bend is Leslie Biek, Assistant <br />City Engineer. <br />
