protected prior to the application of material in accordance with INDOT 404.07, except that raised <br />pavement markers shall be removed. There will be no direct payment for this work. <br />5. Cracks in the pavement in excess of 114 in. width shall be filled in accordance with INDOT 408 <br />prior to placement of warranted seal coating. There will be no direct payment for this work. <br />6. Existing curb faces, approaches, stormwater inlets, grass, and other features subject to <br />coordination with the Engineer shall be protected from and kept clean of all asphalt seal coat <br />material. <br />7. Squeegees, brushes, and truck -mounted applicators shall be permitted for this work. Only <br />application by hand squeegee or brush shall be used in the vicinity of existing curb faces, <br />approaches, stormwater inlets, grass, and other features to prevent contamination. <br />8. Seal coat shall not be applied when ambient temperature is below 50°F nor when ambient <br />temperature is expected to drop below 50OF within 24 hours of application. <br />9. The application rate of the seal coat shall be between 70 to 82 square feet per gallon. <br />10. All incidental work, including but not limited to surface preparation, inlet and casting protection, <br />and pavement markings, shall be included in the cost of the seal coat pay item: <br />Seal Coat .......................................... SY <br />XXII. HOT MIX ASPHALT PATCH <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2022, INDOT Standard Specifications Sections 40 and 402 <br />B. Additions: <br />1. The Contractor shall confirm the locations of the patch areas with the Owners inspector prior to <br />milling. <br />2. The Contractor shall clean the milled surface prior to placing tack coat or asphalt. <br />3. The Contractor shall submit a job mix formula for approval five (5) days prior to any mix placed. <br />The Contractor will not be allowed to proceed with the placement of asphalt without an approved <br />job mix formula. The Contractor shall notify the City 24 hours prior to placing any asphalt. Mix <br />placed without notification will be subject to no payment. <br />4. No vehicular traffic of any kind shall be permitted on any lift until the mixture has hardened <br />sufficiently to not be unduly distorted. <br />5. The temperature of the finished mixture at the plant shall be 260'F with a minimum temperature <br />at time of spreading of 240'F. <br />6, The Contractor shall properly cover all existing structures (storm water inlets, open grate manhole <br />covers, etc.) prior to applying HMA surface. All existing structures not covered prior to application <br />shall be cleaned at no additional cost to the Owner. <br />7. Any existing structure (including storm inlets) in the resurfacing area that requires adjustment <br />shall be adjusted to match the finished grade. <br />8. The Contractor Is responsible for identifying all structures and water valves to be adjusted and <br />confirming them, along with the method of adjustment, with the City. <br />9. Patching shall extend to a depth of size (6) inches or to match the pre-existing surface, whichever <br />is deeper.
