Community and Economic Development Committee <br /> November 22, 1999 <br /> Page 2 <br /> Council Member King made a motion, seconded by Council Member Sniadecki that Bill <br /> No. 99-99 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Beth Leonard then reviewed Bill No. 100-99 which would appropriate$ 81,964 from the <br /> Economic Development State Grant Fund for the purpose of assisting in the support of the <br /> Division of Business Assistance's Administrative Budget. This appropriation was <br /> discussed at the budget meetings held earlier this year. <br /> Council Member Sniadecki made a motion, seconded by Council Member King that Bill <br /> No. 100-99 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Beth Leonard then reviewed Bill No. 101-99 which would appropriate$ 130,000 within <br /> the UDAG Fund of the Department of Economic Development for the purpose of providing <br /> administrative support to the Department of Community and Economic Development. This <br /> appropriation was also discussed at the budget meetings held earlier this year. <br /> Council Member Sniadecki made a motion, seconded by Council Member King that Bill <br /> No. 101-99 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Ken Fedder then requested that Bill No. 103-99 be continued until the December 13, 1999 <br /> meeting. He explained that a public hearing must take place on December 3, 1999,before <br /> the Economic Development Commission. He would therefore like to have a special <br /> meeting of the Common Council for December 3rd for action on the various required <br /> documents for Rink Riverside Printing, Inc. He noted that it would be for the equipment. <br /> The bonds would be pre-purchased and the closing must take place before December 10th. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Sniadecki made a motion, seconded by Council <br /> Member King that a special Common Council meeting take place on December 3rd in the <br /> Council Informal meeting room for this project. The motion passed. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Substitute Bill No. 99-117 which would confirm the <br /> adoption of a declaratory resolution for American Home Dreams,Inc. and the South Bend <br /> Redevelopment Commission. <br /> Mike Beitzinger made the presentation. He reviewed his report dated November 8, 1999 <br /> (copy attached) and noted that the measure corrects the legal descriptions and addresses <br /> resulting from the replat of the project area. Jon Hunt noted for the record that he is a <br /> board member of American Home Dreams,Inc. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member King made a motion, seconded by Council <br /> Member Sniadecki that substitute Bill No. 99-117 be recommended favorably to Council. <br /> The motion passed. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 99-118 which is a ten (10) year tax abatement <br /> request for the property located at 2001 West Washington Street for Uniroyal Technology <br /> Corporation. <br /> Cassandra Phillips reviewed the November 16, 1999 report (copy attached) which <br /> concluded that the petitioner qualifies for the ten(10)year real property tax abatement. <br />
