<br />08-51-00 - 9 ALUMINUM WINDOWS – SERVICE BUILDING 08-51-00 - 9 <br /> <br />J. Head Receptor/Starter: <br /> <br />1. Extruded aluminum prime billet 6063-T5/T6 alloy aluminum sheet 3003 H14. <br /> <br />a. Profiles shall match those shown/noted on the Drawings and for the <br />conditions of the openings. <br /> <br />2. The finish system and color shall match the window frame and sash. <br /> <br />2.03 FABRICATION- WINDOWS: <br /> <br />A. General: <br /> <br />1. All aluminum frame and vent extrusions for hinged and fixed window units shall have <br />a minimum wall thickness of .125". <br /> <br />2. Mechanical fasteners, welded components and hardware items shall not bridge <br />thermal barriers. Thermal barriers shall align at all frame and sash corners. <br /> <br />3. Depth of frame and sash shall be as defined per window series specified in sub-Part <br />2.04. <br /> <br /> 4. Fabricate frames in the profiles shown on the Drawings. <br /> <br />B. Frame: <br /> <br />1. Frame components shall be mechanically fastened double corner key construction <br /> at Operable Units. <br /> <br />2. Frame components shall be mortised, and tendoned on Fixed Window assemblies. <br /> <br />3. Extended frames/components: <br /> <br />a. Where an extended sill outside leg may be required for window types going into <br />the existing opening, the sill extension shall interlock with the window frame and <br />be field trimmed to fit the sill conditions. Where the full perimeter of the existing <br />opening requires an extended exterior frame leg, the extension shall be part of <br />the extruded frame profile and not a field applied extension. <br /> <br />C. Sash: <br /> <br />1. All sash extrusions shall be tubular. <br /> <br />2. Each corner shall be mitered, reinforced with an extruded aluminum corner key, <br />hydraulically crimped, and "cold welded" with epoxy adhesive at Fixed Window Units; <br />corners shall be mechanically fastened at Operable Windows. All corners shall be <br />sealed weather tight. <br /> <br />3. Each sash shall have two rows of neoprene weatherstripping installed in specially <br />designed dovetail grooves in the sash extrusion at Fixed Window Units. <br /> <br />D. Glazing: <br /> <br />1. All units shall be glazed with the manufacturer's standard sealant process provided <br />the glass is held in place by a removable, extruded aluminum, glazing bead. The <br />glazing bead must be isolated from the glazing material by a gasket.
