Public Works Committee <br /> '' May 26, 1987 <br /> Page 2 <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 39-87 which would <br /> appropriate an additional $62 , 500 from the Local Road & Street <br /> Fund to Project R&S 8706, Edison Road widening from Crestwood to <br /> Hickory Road. Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the $62 , 500 <br /> represents 25% of the total cost of the project. The remaining <br /> funds would be provided by the Federal government. This project <br /> would include storm sewers. He also indicated that there were <br /> some outstanding right-of-way issues on the Mishawaka side of the <br /> intersection. <br /> Following discussion, Councilman Serge made a motion, <br /> seconded by Councilman Puzzello , that Bill No. 39-87 receive a <br /> favorable recommendation. The motion passed . <br /> Councilman Zakrzewski questioned how the various contracts <br /> were handled and whether any of these were handled in-house. Mr. <br /> Leszczynski indicated that the majority would be handled by the <br /> competitive bid process . <br /> Councilman Serge complimented the Street Department on a job <br /> well done on Jefferson, and Councilmen Taylor and Barcome stated <br /> that they would propose priorities for areas of Miami Street with <br /> regard to paving . <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 40-87 which would <br /> appropriate $275 ,000 from the Local Road and Street Fund to <br /> Project R&S 8703, pavement improvements. The $275,000 would be <br /> appropriated for the following projects : <br /> 1) various concrete repairs $200,000 <br /> 2) crack sealing $ 50,000 <br /> 3) paving Juniper/Eddy $ 10 , 000 <br /> 4) Lafayette street shoulders $ 10,000 <br /> 5) Bendix Drive repairs $ 5 ,000 <br /> Councilman Zakrzewski indicated that the various sections of Ford <br /> Street would need concrete repairs . <br /> Following discussion , Councilman Serge made a motion , <br /> seconded by Councilman Taylor , that Bill No. 40-87 receive a <br /> favorable recommendation . The motion passed . <br /> Mr. Leszczynski then reviewed Bill No. 41-87 which would <br /> appropriate $525 ,000 from the Local Road and Street Fund to <br /> Project R&S 8702 , paving materials , and Bill No. 46-87 which <br /> would appropriate $350,000.
