OLmnmliin ittport PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE • So tic (Comm Comuil of ttlr fling of*mill iirnit The May 26 , 1987 meeting of the Public Works Committee was called to order at 4 :00 p.m. by its Chairman, Councilman Thomas Zakrzewski , in the Council informal meeting room. Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Serge, Braboy, Puzzello , Zakrzewski , Barcome , Voorde , and Taylor ; John Leszczynski , Carol Sanders , Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand , and members of the news media. Councilman Zakrzewski noted that the first item on the agenda was the review of Bill No. 36-87 which would appropriate $46,603.58 from the Cumulative Sewer, Building and Sinking Fund to Project CS816, Bowman Creek. Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the City was required to make emergency repairs at Bowman Creek at St. Joseph and Fox Streets. The total cost of the project was between $81 , 000-.$90,000 and the balance remaining was the $46 , 603.58. Following discussion , Councilman Serge made a motion, seconded by Councilman Puzzello, that Bill 36-87 receive a favorable recommendation. The motion passed . The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 37-87 which would appropriate an additional $30 , 000 from the Local Road & Street Fund to Project R&S 8704 , the construction of Viridian Drive. Mr. Leszczynski noted that $40,000 was received from a grant , $10,000 was needed for engineering, and $30, 000 was. needed from the City. He also indicated that additional businesses have been added to the Airport Industrial Park through the construction of this drive . • Following discussion, Councilman Serge made a motion, seconded by Councilman Puzzello , that Bill No. 37-87 receive a favorable recommendation. The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 38-87 which would appropriate an additional $122,000 from the Local Road & Street Fund to Project R&S 8705, Logan Street widening from McKinley to Jefferson Boulevard. Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the cost of $122 , 000 represents 12.5% of the total construction cost. Mishawaka would also be charged for 12.5% with the remaining $75,000 being paid by the Federal government through the Federal Aid Urban Funds . The first phase of letting by the State would be in June or July of this year . Following discussion , Councilman Serge made a motion, seconded by Councilman Puzzello , that Bill No . 38-87 be recommended favorably to Council .
