OLmnmliin ittport <br /> PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE <br /> • <br /> So tic (Comm Comuil of ttlr fling of*mill iirnit <br /> The May 26 , 1987 meeting of the Public Works Committee was <br /> called to order at 4 :00 p.m. by its Chairman, Councilman Thomas <br /> Zakrzewski , in the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Serge, Braboy, <br /> Puzzello , Zakrzewski , Barcome , Voorde , and Taylor ; John <br /> Leszczynski , Carol Sanders , Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand , and <br /> members of the news media. <br /> Councilman Zakrzewski noted that the first item on the <br /> agenda was the review of Bill No. 36-87 which would appropriate <br /> $46,603.58 from the Cumulative Sewer, Building and Sinking Fund <br /> to Project CS816, Bowman Creek. Mr. Leszczynski indicated that <br /> the City was required to make emergency repairs at Bowman Creek <br /> at St. Joseph and Fox Streets. The total cost of the project was <br /> between $81 , 000-.$90,000 and the balance remaining was the <br /> $46 , 603.58. Following discussion , Councilman Serge made a <br /> motion, seconded by Councilman Puzzello, that Bill 36-87 receive <br /> a favorable recommendation. The motion passed . <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 37-87 which would <br /> appropriate an additional $30 , 000 from the Local Road & Street <br /> Fund to Project R&S 8704 , the construction of Viridian Drive. <br /> Mr. Leszczynski noted that $40,000 was received from a grant , <br /> $10,000 was needed for engineering, and $30, 000 was. needed from <br /> the City. He also indicated that additional businesses have been <br /> added to the Airport Industrial Park through the construction of <br /> this drive . <br /> • <br /> Following discussion, Councilman Serge made a motion, <br /> seconded by Councilman Puzzello , that Bill No. 37-87 receive a <br /> favorable recommendation. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 38-87 which would <br /> appropriate an additional $122,000 from the Local Road & Street <br /> Fund to Project R&S 8705, Logan Street widening from McKinley to <br /> Jefferson Boulevard. Mr. Leszczynski indicated that the cost of <br /> $122 , 000 represents 12.5% of the total construction cost. <br /> Mishawaka would also be charged for 12.5% with the remaining <br /> $75,000 being paid by the Federal government through the Federal <br /> Aid Urban Funds . The first phase of letting by the State would <br /> be in June or July of this year . <br /> Following discussion , Councilman Serge made a motion, <br /> seconded by Councilman Puzzello , that Bill No . 38-87 be <br /> recommended favorably to Council .
