Public Works Committee <br /> May 26, 1987 <br /> Page 3 <br /> 1 <br /> (2) bills , the majority of the paving would be done throughout <br /> the City. He indicated that actual blocks were down in number , <br /> but the overall dollars were up from the prior year . <br /> Approximately $150,000 of the $350,000 in Bill No. 46-87 would be <br /> earmarked to the alley program. <br /> Following discussion, Councilman Puzzello made a motion, <br /> seconded by Councilman Taylor , that Bill Nos. 41-87 and 46-87 <br /> receive favorable recommendations . The motion passed . <br /> Mr. Leszczynski then distributed two (2) lists to Committee, <br /> one (1) of slurry seal projects and one ( 1) of paving projects , <br /> for the summer months . <br /> In response to a question from Councilman Taylor , Mr. <br /> Leszczynski indicated that the traffic signalization at Ironwood <br /> and Ewing may not be completed this calendar year . <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 42-87 which would <br /> appropriate $40 ,000 from the Local Road and Street Fund to <br /> Project R&S 8701 , construction of a traffic signal at the inter- <br /> section of Bendix Drive and Sugar Maple Lane. Mr. Leszczynski <br /> indicated that the traffic counts warranted such a traffic <br /> signalization. <br /> Following discussion , Councilman Braboy made a motion, <br /> seconded by Councilman Barcome , that Bill No. 42-87 receive a <br /> favorable recommendation . The motion passed . <br /> Councilman Taylor then voiced concern over the traffic <br /> signalization at the intersection of York and Ireland. He <br /> indicated that the turn lane was taken out in order for the City <br /> to be a part of the overall traffic signalization. However, it <br /> was indicated to Councilman Taylor by Mr. Leszczynski that the <br /> turn signal would be restored. He requested that the necessary <br /> studies be completed so that this could be done as soon as <br /> possible. Councilman Barcome also voiced concern about this <br /> intersection . <br /> Councilman Voorde voiced concern over the traffic <br /> signalization progress at the intersection of Jackson and Miami . <br /> • Following further discussion by the Committee, Councilman <br /> Braboy made a motion, seconded by Councilman Barcome , that the <br /> meeting be adjourned at 4 : 15 p .m. <br /> Respectfully submitted , <br /> Councilman Thomas Zakrzewski , Chairman <br />
