Payment for all costs associated with Hot Mix Asphalt Pavement, including the cost of all <br />materials, equipment, tools, labor, transportation, operations, and all other incidentals, shall be <br />paid for on a tonnage basis for under the pay item: <br /> <br />HMA BASE, TYPE B, 8 IN …………………..…………………………………….TON <br />HMA SURFACE, TYPE B, 1.5 IN…………………..…………………………………….TON <br />XXVI. COMPACTED AGGREGATE <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: City of South Bend Design and Construction Standards / 2018, INDOT <br />Standard Specifications Section 301 <br />B. Additions: <br />1. All coarse aggregate shall be of the specified size. Crushed limestone and concrete are allowed. <br />The cost of placing, compacting, water and necessary incidentals shall be included in the cost of <br />the compacted aggregate. <br /> <br />2. Sources of aggregate shall be in accordance with Section 904 of the INDOT Standard <br />Specifications. Sources of aggregate will not be considered f or acceptance of material until a <br />preliminary investigation has been made. As part of this investigation, samples will be obtained and <br />tests conducted to determine the quality and classification of the aggregates in accordance with <br />ITM 203. <br /> <br />3. The depth of compacted aggregate shall be 6-inches below proposed pavement and drives. <br />Quantity shall be based on plan neat lines. <br /> <br />4. Plan quantities are based on an assumed compacted density of 1.9 tons/cubic yard. <br /> <br />5. The condition of the subgrade at the time paving material is placed is required to be in accordance <br />with INDOT Standard Specifications 105.03 and 207.03. <br /> <br />6. Prior to placing the base course of asphalt on the prepared aggregate subgrade, proof rolling in <br />accordance with INDOT Standard Specifications 203.09 and 203.26 is required. <br /> <br />7. Measurement and Payment <br /> <br />a. Payment for compacted aggregate for construction entrance, pipe and structure bedding will <br />be considered incidental to furnishing and installing the respective Pay Item. <br /> <br />b. The cost of placing, compacting, water and necessary incidentals associated with the <br />compacted aggregate, other than the material described above, will be paid for on a tonnage <br />basis for all parts under the pay item: <br /> <br />COMPACTED AGGREGATE NO. 53, ..……………………………………….TON <br />XXVII. CONCRETE CURB, CONCRETE CURB AND GUTTER <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2022, INDOT Standard Specifications Section 605 <br />B. Additions: <br />1. Expansion material is required at all cold joints, POC’s, POT’s, alignment changes, and at 80’ <br />intervals in all other areas. <br />2. Transverse control joints shall be placed at equal intervals not to exceed 10 feet.
