Precast concrete sections shall conform to ASTM C-478 for round structures and ASTM C-913 for <br />rectangular/square structures. <br /> <br />8. The Contractor is directed to review the Prevailing Specifications of Section 2100. <br /> <br />9. Prior to structure construction including connection to existing pipe, the existing pipe ends shall be <br />cleaned of all foreign materials. Existing anchors, toe walls, end sections, or headwalls shall be <br />removed as shown on the plans or as directed. Such obstruction removal shall be considered <br />incidental to the work, and shall not be paid for directly but shall be included in the cost of other <br />pay items. In addition, cutting of existing pipe ends required to provide a flush connection with the <br />inside wall of a proposed manhole shall also be considered incidental to the project. <br /> <br />10. Furnishing and adjusting frames and castings to grade is to be included in the cost of the manhole, <br />catch basin, drywell or inlet, rather than being measured as a separate pay item. <br /> <br />11. The costs of excavation, backfill, reinforcing steel, B borrow or other Engineer-approved or required <br />material for structure backfill, concrete collar required for pipe connection to structures, geotextile, <br />removal, disposal and replacement of pavement, or surface material, and necessary incidentals <br />shall be included in the costs of the pay items. Bedding for manhole structures shall be incidental. <br /> <br />12. Benching of structures without a sump shall be considered incidental to the Pay Item for the <br />structure, rather than paid as a separate pay item. Structures shall have no sump per City of South <br />Bend Standards. <br /> <br />13. Costs associated with plugging existing pipes at manholes as noted in the Plans, shall be incidental <br />to the respective manhole item. <br /> <br />14. The specified casting assembly including 3142 ring & 6001 ADA grate shall be by US Foundary, or <br />alternate approved by the Engineer prior to the work. <br /> <br />15. Measurement and Payment <br /> <br />a. Payment for all costs of Standard Inlets, Manholes, and Catch Basins, including the cost of all <br />materials, equipment, tools, labor, transportation, operations, and all other incidentals, shall be <br />paid for on each basis under the pay items: <br /> <br />MANHOLE, SANITARY, 4’ DIA………...….…………………………………………EACH <br />XX. SANITARY SEWER PIPE <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2022, INDOT Standard Specifications Section 715 <br />B. Additions: <br />1. Pipe, Type 2, shall be one of the following material, unless otherwise noted on the plans: <br /> <br />a. SDR 35 or 26 PVC Pipe (Not to be used for circular pipe 21” and larger) <br /> <br />2. Pipe with material thickness, strength classification, or protective coatings in excess of the minimum <br />required as specified herein or noted on the Plans may be used, if such additional thickness doe s <br />not cause further conflict with existing utilities. <br /> <br />3. Only Rubber O-Ring Joints are to be used. <br /> <br />4. Pipe joints shall be water tight conforming to AASHTO M-294 and ASTM F-477. <br />
