• .�" NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES (iOORD.LNA'1'UK <br /> DEFINITION <br /> • <br /> Has major responsibility for coordinating; Community Development services with <br /> activities of neighborhood organizations and other citizen groups. <br /> EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br /> 1. Coordinates joint Community Development and neighborhood special projects, <br /> such as paint-up/fix-up, demonstration blocks and neighborhood clean-up. <br /> 2. Serves as contact person for city's neighborhood groups to coordinate their <br /> self-help and self-improvement programs with City departments. <br /> 3. Coordinates interdepartmental activities in regard to neighborhood improvement <br /> programs. <br /> 4. Attends or oversees attendance at neighborhood meetings. <br /> 5. Provides staff assistance to citizen advisory groups. <br /> 6. Edits and arranges publication of Community Development newsletter. <br /> 7. Represents Division of Community Development at neighborhood-oriented <br /> programs. <br /> 1 • <br /> 8. Performs other duties as directed by Community Development Director or <br /> Assistant Director for Program Management. • <br /> EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS <br /> EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE <br /> Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school, some college or <br /> specialized training in public relations and/or psychology and two years' experience <br /> in public relations and/or administrative coordination. At least 2 years experience <br /> working with neighborhood organizations, either on a staff or voluntary basis. <br /> • <br /> KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY <br /> Knowledge of basic practices of local government ; knowledge of basic legalities <br /> regulating local government; knowledge of public relations and psychology; ability <br /> • to understand complex city organizational functions and to explain them clearly; <br /> ability to deal tactfully, patiently, and effectively with a wide range of citizens; <br /> ability to communicate clearly and effectively, in writing and orally; ability to <br /> deal professionally with city officials in solving problems and getting clear <br /> answers to complex or confusing questions. Willingness to work long or unusual <br /> hours. <br /> LICENSE NEEDED <br /> Indiana Driver's license. Access to an automobile is preferred. <br /> IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR : Assistant Director for Program Management. <br /> HOURS: Generally 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Attendance at evening meetings is expected. <br /> SALARY: $17,230 . <br /> • <br />
