There has been some concern raised earlier about the Neighborhood Services Coordinator position, currently occupied by Loretta Duda, being incorporated in the Urban Planner III position. As you are aware, this was done because the Neighborhood Services Coordinator position was created last year after the Salary Ordinance had been adopted. I would recommend that, in order to clarify the situation, the salary ordinance be amended on the floor to include the Neighborhood Services Coordinator position as a separate item in the ordinance. I would also request that the Urban Planner III position be retained for the reasons it was created in the first place: to provide the Community Development Director with the ability to promote planners currently on staff if the need to increase their responsibilities and duties occurs. I request your favorable consideration of the ordinance and this recommendation for an amendment. I have enclosed a copy of a job description for the Neighborhood Services Coordinator and a copy of the Salary Ordinance as amended, if you concur with this recommendation.
