<br />Page 5 of 42 <br />signal apparatus that contains emergency vehicle preemption equipment, an <br />attempt should be made, using normal diligence, to salvage the preemption <br />equipment for re-use. <br />iv. The securing or reinstallation of all signs on signal span wires or mast arms. <br />v. The installation of temporary STOP signs at locations due to power outages. <br />When STOP signs are installed, they shall be installed on all approaches to <br />create all-way stop traffic control and the signal shall be switched to “flash” for <br />the duration that the STOP signs are installed. <br />vi. In the event of extreme emergency problems, the solicitation of immediate <br />assistance of local law enforcement agencies as necessary until such time that <br />emergency repairs can be accomplished. Damaged, inoperative traffic signals <br />should not be left unattended. A signal may be placed in a flashing mode, or if <br />there are no signal indications, a STOP sign control shall be installed or police <br />control of the intersection shall be used, while repairs are being completed. <br />INDOT shall be notified of emergency repairs, so it can inspect the work <br />performed as necessary. <br />The CITY shall not make alterations of existing installations unless authorized in writing <br />by INDOT except in cases of emergency when a traffic signal is out of operation and no <br />one from INDOT can be reached to authorize the repairs in which case, the CITY shall <br />make the necessary repairs and submit damaged equipment to INDOT as evidence of <br />material used to keep the signal in operation. <br />B. Documentation. The CITY shall keep and provide records of all work in making Non- <br />Scheduled Maintenance repairs. The CITY shall submit a "Signal Work Activity Report,” <br />attached hereto as Exhibit E incorporated by reference, for each intersection where work <br />was performed with the monthly invoice in which work was completed. Any requested <br />supplemental documentation, such as police reports, pictures, etc., will be provided upon <br />request. <br />2.3. SCHEDULED PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES. Scheduled <br />Preventative Maintenance shall be performed by the CITY upon existing traffic signals listed on <br />Exhibit A and any others which may be installed or taken over by INDOT during the effective period <br />of this Agreement.
