Weaver Consultants Group

7

4.5 Pavement Considerations
The pavement subgrade is anticipated to consist of “B” Borrow type soil or crushed stone placed
to improve the subgrade conditions or structure backfill placed during backfill of the sewer.
Provided the subgrade is prepared in accordance with the recommendations provided herein,
these conditions are anticipated to be suitable for support of the pavement. We recommend the
following parameters be considered for pavement design, if necessary. As we anticipate a
minimum of 2 feet of soil will require improvement, we have recommended a Type I subgrade
treatment in accordance with INDOT Standard Specifications Section 207.04. Table 2 below
provides a summary of the pavement design parameters.
Table 2: Summary of Pavement Design Parameters
Mr for Improved Subgrade 7,500 psi
Mr for Natural Subgrade 5,000 psi
Subgrade Material Sand (A-1-b)
Depth to Water Greater than 5 feet
Subgrade Treatment* Type I
* Per Indiana Department of Transportation Standard Specifications 207.04.
