• <br /> "Operation Safe Neighborhoods" <br /> Page 2 <br /> (d) Financial Incentives: A maximum of One hundred twenty-five dollars <br /> ($125.00) of the monthly mortgage or rental amount due and owing on qualifying <br /> residential units may be reimbursed to a qualifying officer or sworn member of the South <br /> Bend Police Department. Said qualifying officer or such member of the South Bend Police <br /> Department must file under oath an affidavit verifying residency and liability insurance <br /> coverage as set forth in paragraph(c)herein. <br /> Total monies available for the"Operation Safe Neighborhoods"Program shall be <br /> determined by the Common Council through the amount budgeted for each calendar year <br /> in calendar years 1995, 1996, and 1997. If the sworn member or officer of the South <br /> Bend Police Department moves from the qualifying residential unit, all financial incentives <br /> described herein shall immediately cease and such officer or sworn member of the South <br /> Bend Police Department may be subject to reimbursement requirements addressed in <br /> paragraph 3). The City of South Bend shall assume no financial liability for such residence <br /> except for the financial incentives described herein. <br /> In the event that a sworn member or officer of the South Bend Police Department <br /> currently lives within the "Operation Safe Neighborhoods" Program area described in <br /> Exhibit A, he or she may file for mortgage or rental assistance pursuant to the terms set <br /> forth herein. <br /> (e) Procedure. All sworn members or officers of the South Bend Police <br /> Department desiring to participate in the"Operation Safe Neighborhoods"Program must <br /> submit a completed application form to the Office of the City Controller and must <br /> cooperate with the processing of said application. The Office of the City Controller will <br /> review submitted documents, authorize payment(if warranted), and issue reimbursement <br /> checks on a quarterly basis to qualifying sworn members or officers. <br /> (f) Additional Regulation. The City of South Bend reserves the right to <br /> establish additional rules and regulations as deemed necessary, but in no event shall the <br /> City reduce the amount of the maximum monthly incentive during the budget year. <br /> Section II.
