6) 1618 E. Wayne St. EW <br />Owner requested approval to remove diseased 40' pine tree at <br />front and to replace it with 8' Colorado Spruce near current <br />location. Mr. Newburn moved to approve staff recommendation <br />for removal and replacement; Mr. Nimtz seconded; motion <br />passed. <br />7) 314 W. LaSalle - Fredrickson Candy Store- LL <br />Owner requested approval of: 1) landscaping plan and new <br />parking lot adjacent to candy store (see site plan - Appendix <br />I and J) reconstruction of portions of candy store exterior <br />damaged by fire. Mrs. Petrass moved to approve staff <br />recommendation; Mr. Herendeen seconded; motion passed. <br />8) 1521 E. Wayne St. EW <br />Owner requested approval to remove original slate roof and <br />replace it with fibreglass shingles. Mr. Herendeen moved to <br />approve variance for reroofing due to incomplete roofing and <br />potential of interior damage and with the condition that all <br />residents of the E. Wayne St. district be informed that a <br />variance was allowed only because of the situation and will <br />not be tolerated as a precedent. Mr. Herendeen also stated <br />that the contractor be notified that he is in extreme <br />violation and that any future work done in a Historic District <br />requires a Certficate of Appropriateness; Mr. Newburn <br />seconded; Mrs. Choitz against; Mr. Hayes abstained; motion <br />passed. <br />Owner requested approval to install Cedarwood, aluminum siding <br />with 5" reveal. Mr. Hayes moved to allow variance for <br />aluminum siding_ for these reasons: 1) there are several <br />aluminum sided homes in area; 2) the district does not rely on <br />wood -sided structures for its character; 3) the petitioner has <br />made an effort to match aluminum siding with color and size of <br />existing siding; 4) the petitioner intends to retain wood <br />trim; and 5) the siding will not visually alter the structure; <br />Mr. Nimtz seconded; Mrs. Choitz and Mr. Oxian against; Mr. <br />Herendeen asbstained; motion passed; vote 4-2-1. <br />9) 19109 Johnson Rd. - LL <br />Mr. Poland reported that 2 more designs were reviewed for <br />Section 2, Southland and requested approval for staff to <br />review designs for Section 3, Southland, Lots 21 through 60. <br />Mrs. Choitz moved to allow staff to review designs for Section <br />3, Lots 21 through 60, Southland; Mr. Herendeen seconded; <br />motion passed. <br />10) 1417 E. Wayne - EW - Report <br />Mr. Poland reported staff approved an in -Hand roof replacement <br />and repainting as per Preservation Brief No. 2. <br />n <br />
