regarding feasibility studies and documenation of <br />alternative considerations. <br />If the demolition is eventually allotlaed because of <br />concurrence with these studies, certain provisions are then <br />required to mitigate the physical loss of the culturally and <br />historically significant properties. These usually include <br />the documentation of the structures by Historic American <br />Buildings Survey drawings and photodocumentation, and <br />on -site interpretive information to allow the public to <br />understand the forms and functions of the missing elements <br />of the landmark. <br />The School Corporation's application to the HPC is a <br />preliminary proposal that requests demolition of the Vo-Tec <br />and powerplant portions of the Central High School complex <br />to make room for the creation of additional parking spaces <br />and because it currently does not "need" the Vo-Tec and <br />powerplant buildings. At the Historic Preservation <br />Commission meeting on July 18, 1988, when this project was <br />discussed, school administrators indicated that the <br />demolitions would not solve the parking problem, but would <br />only add approximately 37 spaces where the Vo-Tec building <br />now stands, and 3 spaces where the powerplant is located. <br />There vO l l st i l l be a tremendous need for additional <br />off -site partying or the development of an on -site parking <br />garage. Alternative solutions could include using the first <br />floor of the Vo-Tec building for parking, or the development <br />
