The motion was seconded by Mr. Mullins and approved. <br /> <br /> <br />VI.Approval of Maintenance Vouchers <br /> <br />A motion was made by Dr. Kelly to approve maintenance vouchers for totaling $774,118.64. <br />It was seconded by Mr. Mullins. There being no further discussion, the motion was passed. <br /> <br /> <br />VII.Business of the Director <br /> <br /> <br />1.Director St. Clair commented that the recent passage of HB 1001 will have an impact on <br />the Department. He was unsure of the extent at this time. We will learn of the revenues <br />available in the next several months once scenarios are explored. <br /> <br />2.He was in Washington, DC last week and met with several lawmakers including Senator <br />Bayh and Congressman Donnelly. They discussed funding on a national level. An <br />increase in the Land and Water Conservation Fund to $125M. Boehm, Belleville, Boland <br />and the Zoo have benefited from this fund. <br />He discussed the WE CAN Program and other childhood obesity programs with them. <br />He felt it was well received and there may be an opportunity to have a grant specifically <br />for South Bend. <br /> <br />3.He discussed the grant that was received with the Community Foundation for Potawatomi <br />Park’s accessibility walk way. The Community Foundation is ready to move forward with <br />the bid process through their board. It is a $436,000 project with a ½ mile path. The final <br />specifications are being put together. The bid documents will go out on April 18. It is <br />hoped to be done this summer. <br /> <br /> <br />VIII.Comments by the Recreation Director <br /> <br /> <br />1.Ms. O’Connor presented a new form of her report to the Board. <br /> <br />2.The U. S. Olympic Softball team will be playing an exhibition game at the Belleville <br />Softball Complex. A press conference will be held next Thursday. Tickets will go on sale <br />on Monday. <br /> <br />3.The Mom/Son dance is next Tuesday. Two hundred are signed up to date. Attendance <br />in the past has been 700-800. Usually there is a late sign up for this event. <br /> <br /> <br />IX.Comments by the <br />Golf Operations Director <br /> <br />1.Mr. Nowacki reported that Customer Appreciation Day will be held on March 1. <br /> <br />2.He has been working with Pro Link on advertising for the GPS units. <br /> <br />3.Hiring for the year is starting. <br /> <br />4.He has been working with the high school golf teams and the ones that play at Erskine will <br />be volunteering some time cleaning up the course <br /> <br />5.He reviewed the ongoing capital projects at the golf courses. <br /> <br /> - - 4 - - <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
