<br />Version 10/31/2017 Page - 9 Public Works Quote <br />5. Construction Engineering will be paid for at the lump sum price bid for this item, and shall not <br />exceed two (4%) percent of the total of all other bid items of the original proposal. <br />6. The Contractor shall maintain at the site for the Owner, one (1) record copy of all drawings, <br />specifications, Addenda, Change Orders and other modifications, in good order and marked <br />currently to record all changes made during construction. <br />7. The Contractor shall not be able to make additional costs claim for compressed schedule unless <br />the delay is attributed to events or the work of others beyond their control. <br /> <br />XXI. MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC <br /> <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2020, INDOT Standard Specifications Sections 105 & 801 <br />B. Additions: <br /> <br />1. Maintenance of traffic during construction shall conform to the “Indiana Manual on Uniform Traffic <br />Control Devices” and the City of South Bend Design and Construction Standards. <br />2. The attached “Traffic Closure Request” form is to be used for any lane restrictions or closures and <br />required to be filled out and sent to the Department of Public Works <br />3. The Contractor shall arrange and prosecute the work specified for this contract in such a manner <br />that traffic on existing streets is unrestricted throughout the Project. The Engineer shall approve <br />the method of traffic control. No construction equipment, vehicles, materials, supplies or temporary <br />facilities shall be left unattended in the right-of-way of any street or left parked overnight without <br />proper marking and lighting <br />4. The Contractor shall accommodate for any and all pedestrian traffic in their Traffic Control Plan. <br />Any pedestrian detours and sidewalk closures shall be safe, protected, and free of hazards. <br />5. After the award of the contract and before beginning the work, the Contractor shall submit his <br />proposed schedule of operations for the review of the Engineer. This schedule shall be available <br />at the Preconstruction meeting as further described in the “Prosecution and Progress” section. The <br />schedule of operations as reviewed by the Engineer shall be maintained at all times. <br />6. “Road Construction Ahead” signs in each direction, signing for flagging operations and all other <br />necessary signing shall be provided by the Contractor. <br />7. This item will not be measured and shall be paid for at the Lump Sum (LS) unit price for <br />MAINTENANCE OF TRAFFIC. <br /> <br />XXII. CLEARING RIGHT OF WAY <br /> <br />A. Prevailing Specifications: 2020, INDOT Standard Specifications Sections 201, 202 <br />B. Additions: <br /> <br />1. The lump sum price bid for “Clearing Right-of-Way” shall include “Clearing and Grubbing” and <br />“Removal of Structures and Obstructions” which shall include removal of all brush, trees, other <br />vegetation, man-made materials, and other items identified on the plans for removal, required to <br />perform the scope of work, except for those items which are specifically listed in the proposal for <br />separate payment. <br />2. Any fencing, including the black raceway fence, or man-made obstructions (i.e. guardrail, utility <br />markers, landscape rocks, etc.) which are in place at the start of construction shall be carefully <br />removed. These items shall be restored using recovered serviceable materials. These shall include <br />obstructions within existing right-of-way impacted by the scope of the work. Removal and <br />restoration of fencing and other man-made obstacles within the right-of-way will not be paid for <br />separately and shall be included in the cost of the pay item. Damaged items caused by the <br />Contractor shall be restored or replaced at no additional cost to the Owner. <br />3. The Contractor shall provide a pre-construction video record and photo journal of the entire project <br />area to verify the existing conditions prior to construction. <br />4. The Contractor shall have all underground utilities field located prior to the start of construction. <br />The Contractor shall protect existing and relocated utilities from damage. <br />5. Burial of debris on site will not be allowed. Disposal of debris shall be at an off-site location in an <br />approved manner according to all County and State Statutes. <br />6. This item will not be measured, this work shall be paid for at the Lump Sum (LS) unit price for <br />CLEARING RIGHT-OF-WAY. <br />
