City of South Bend Central Services Division <br />Fire Service, Inc./Wheeled Coach Ambulance <br />Specification <br />loaded hold open. <br />CURBSIDE ACCESS DOOR HOLD OPEN <br />The curbside access door shall have a gas strut hold open to hold the door at <br />approximately 90 degrees. <br />DOOR PANELS <br />The upper and lower portion of the curbside and rear access door panels shall be <br />brushed stainless steel. The center shall be reflective chevron covered aluminum. <br />The lower panel shall have the Brand logo cut out of the panel and an insert with <br />reflective 3M material installed behind the panel. <br />REAR FENDERS <br />Bright finish aluminum fender flares shall be provided around the rear wheel well <br />openings to provide protection from wheel wash. A corrosion inhibitor shall be <br />applied to the mounting holes prior to installation. <br />BUMPERS AND STEP <br />The chassis manufacturer shall supply the vehicle's front bumper. The rear <br />bumper and step assembly shall be a single unit constructed of ten gauge steel "C" <br />formed channel and .100 inch thick aluminum tread plate as measured at the <br />thinnest point of the tread plate. The center step of the bumper assembly shall be <br />designed to allow it to flip up and out of the way to facilitate patient loading. The <br />flip up section of the of the rear bumper shall be diamond plate to meet the <br />requirements of KKK-A-1822-F specification. The diamond plate flip up step <br />shall be punched with three rows of raised star -shaped holes to create additional <br />non-skid surface. A 1.5" x 2" x 0.125" aluminum box tube shall be welded inside <br />the step full width on the side farthest from the rear of the vehicle. A stainless <br />steel hinge with a center pin of .250 inch shall be used to attach the flip up section <br />of the rear step to the main rear bumper assembly. There shall be eye beam <br />constructed skid plates with tow eyes mounted as part of the frame of the bumper. <br />10070-0003 11 /05/20 <br />24 <br />
