American Response Vehicles
corners will be at least .250 inch radius. Rounded corners will not compromise maximum cabinet assembly
strength. The trim will be bonded with a high strength adhesive.
FIT AND FINISH: Mitered joints throughout the interior conversion will have a gap less, hairline fit. Sliding
polycarbonate door assemblies will be scratch free and all edges will be smooth and free of saw marks and
sharp edges. Cabinet to cabinet joints will not require more than 7/32 diameter welting to create a
finished/well-fit look. Cabinets will fit tightly against the ceiling as well utilizing the same requirements as the
cabinet to cabinet fit.
FUNCTION: Doors and drawers will fit the opening. When specified, flush fitting doors will have even door to
opening gaps. All doors will open and close bind free. Drawers will slide in and out freely, without drag. All
drawers will be mounted on side mounted, full extension drawer slides, rated no less than 75 pounds per
pair. All hinged composite core doors will have positive latches.
CABINET DOOR OPTIONS
SLIDING SECURE LATCH RESTOCKING WINDOW: When a sliding secure latch restocking window is specified,
there will be a restocking sliding SECURE LATCH window installed at the location indicated. This window
features several advanced safety features allowing it to meet the new SAE J3058 safety standard. This slider
window features a full length spring loaded low -profile bar latch at both ends of the slider window that lock
into an aluminum extrusion when the window is closed. The center of the window has aluminum inter -locking
stiffeners of panel to distribute outward impact loads across both panels. The window will be able to be
opened with one motion and with one hand. To close the user can push the window and slam -latch to closing.
This window also features a lower release bar that allows the window to be opened to a restocking position
for a majority clear access to the contents of the cabinets without accessing through the sliding window. The
restocking feature is to be used when the vehicle is not in motion. This window has been tested to SAEJ3058
testing methods in a third party testing facility and found to safely restrain 30 (thirty) pounds of contents.
Windows that do not meet the SAEJ3058 safety requirements are not acceptable to this agency.
STOWAGE LABEL: A label will be applied for any Secure Latch Restocking Sliding Window system indicating its
ability to restrain 30 pounds of contents within the stowage area. This secure latch sliding window system has
been tested and is compliant within the requirements of SAE J3058 as required under Federal specification
KKK-A-1822F section 3.11.3.
HINGED POLYCARBONATE (LEXAN) DOORS: Polycarbonate will hereinafter be identified as Lexan. The Lexan
will be at least 3/16 inch thick. The desired thickness will be noted within this specification at each door
location. The door orientation, hinge style and latch will also be noted at each door location as well. The door
edges will be rounded and smooth since it will be the finished edge that will be visible.
SINGLE FLIP UP LEXAN DOOR: When a single flip up lexan door is specified, a Single 3/8" (0.375 in) thick,
overlay flip up door will be supplied on the cabinet.
SOLID HINGED DOOR: When a solid door is specified, a 3/4" (19mm) thick door will be supplied on the cabinet.
46
