American Response Vehicles
The "Gain control" switch will turn the siren ON and OFF as well as control the volume of the PA (Public
Address) and RADIO repeat amplification. The siren will be warranted by the device manufacturer for a period
of two (1) year on labor and two (2) years on parts. Exact details of the device warranty will be submitted at the
post award conference.
SIREN SPEAKERS: A pair of Federal ES 100 siren speakers will be installed. Each speaker will have a 100 watt
driver and will emit through the cast aluminum horn. The speaker will be mounted in a bracket behind the
OEM bumper with a Stainless steel face plate attached to the front of the bumper. The edges of each hole, in
the bumper, will be clean and will have rust preventative treatment, prior to final installation of the
speakers. The siren and speakers will meet or exceed current Federal KKK-A-1822.
SIREN OR HORN SELECTOR SWITCH: The OEM horn ring will control the OEM electric horn and the siren's
manual momentary input controls. A switch will connect the horn ring to either the OEM HORN or to the
SIREN. The switch will be located in the cab console's switch panel. The switch legend, that clearly defines the
switch function will be engraved in the switch panel. The legend will be illuminated when the head light
switch is on.
AIR HORN SYSTEM: The apparatus will be supplied with an authoritative sounding air horn system that is loud
enough to overwhelm almost every usual audible distraction. The air horns will, when enabled, emit a loud
(128 decibel) signal with tremendous power for the duration of the users' depression of the Activation switch
or momentary mechanical valve. The system will contain two horns of EQUAL length.
AIR HORN ACTIVATION: The air horns will be activated through a manually activated momentary air valve with
a pull down lanyard cable. The valve will feature an orifice size large enough to allow 22 CFM of air volume to
pass through at ninety pounds per square inch of pressure. The valve will be activated manually by a pull down
cable type lanyard. The valve will automatically shut off when the lanyard is released.
AIR HORN ACTIVATION: The air horns will be activated through a twelve volt solenoid valve. The solenoid valve
will feature an orifice size large enough to allow 22 CFM of air volume to pass through at ninety pounds per
square inch of pressure. The solenoid valve will be activated by a momentary foot switch. The solenoid valve
will automatically shut off when the foot switch is released. The foot switch will not activate (Blow) the air
horns, unless BOTH cab doors are closed. This is designed to prevent accidental discharge of the airhorns.
AIR HORNS: Two Grover model No 1510 "Stutter Tone" air horns will be supplied and installed at the location
specified below. Each horn will feature a mounting pedestal that is cast onto the sound unit and a bell support
bracket located at a forward position on the horn bell. The front bracket will feature a rubber insulator at the
contact points to prevent finish damage to the bell and to minimize bell vibration. An air passage designed to
deliver air flow to the sound unit diaphragm will be drilled into the pedestal with an NPT thread at the base for
air line fitting installation. Exposed air line or air line fittings are not acceptable. Each horn bell will measure
twenty five inches long. Each horn will emit a 128 decibel sound blast measured at five feet from the horn bell
at 200 MHz (megahertz). The horns will function adequately at a minimum air pressure of sixty (60) and a
