PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND: PINHOOK WTP IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT GUARANTEED SAVINGS CONTRACT <br />PROJECT SAFETY <br />Reynolds maintains a written safety program that identifies protocols and expectations for our supervisors and <br />employees. We use this program as a principal tool and a common reference guide, not just for compliance, but for <br />safe/best safety practices. <br />Even though our Safety Representative, the Project Manager, and our Site Superintendents are responsible for <br />conformance with the Site Specific Health & Safety Plan, each employee has the authority to stop work if he or she <br />identifies a hazardous condition. This approach creates a cooperative atmosphere that identifies and communicates <br />hazards so they can be controlled or eliminated. <br />KEY ELEMENTS OF SAFETY PROGRAM <br />Key elements of our successful safety program which create a solid culture of safety include the following: <br /> A designated Safety Representative <br /> A core of long-term permanent craft employees, who practice our safety program methods daily <br /> Each employee has the authority to stop work if he or she identifies a hazardous condition. <br /> A detailed Site-Specific Safety Plan will be generated and implemented before site mobilization <br /> Design documents that explicitly address safe construction methods for this project <br /> Construction Safety Manual providing written documentation <br /> Training and education conducted for all personnel, including classroom training, and monthly and weekly on- <br />site safety meetings (“Toolbox” or “Tailgate” meetings) <br /> Indoctrination of all new employees, and subcontractors, including The Safety Orientation Video, issuance of a <br />safety handbook and personal protective equipment <br /> Daily safety inspections, a weekly written checklist report, a monthly Project Manager <br />inspection, periodic safety team inspections plus inspections by our insurance carrier’s <br />loss prevention engineers <br /> Utilization of Heavy Civil Systems Specialists (HCSS) safety management software for <br />logging and tracking of inspections, incidents, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) generation, <br />safety meetings, dashboards and more. <br /> An active Drug-Free Workplace policy/Substance Abuse Program <br /> OSHA training, awareness and compliance <br /> COVID19 awareness and compliance with government regulations, CDC guidelines, related company <br />procedures as well as INAW guidelines <br /> Environmental and sustainability awareness <br /> Subcontractor specific safety procedures <br /> Focused safety emphasis and, including job hazard analysis and controls <br /> Safety award program <br />ADDITIONAL SAFETY TRAINING <br />All of Reynolds’ new hires attend a detailed safety orientation program. Typical annual instruction includes training <br />applicable to Confined Space Entry, Excavations, Fall Protection, Hand and Power Tools, Hazard Communication, <br />Scaffolding, Crane Awareness, Rigging Safety, Traffic Control, American Red Cross First Aid and CPR, Smith Driving <br />Systems.
