South Bend Fire Department <br />CommanderChassis <br />·Substantial air movement and heating provided tothe driver and officer'sposition, Composite <br />dash will have six (6) adjustable louvers, located in the dash, three(3) adjustable louvers directed <br />at the driverand three(3) adjustable louvers directed at the officerand floor vents at the driver <br />and officer. Aluminum dash will have (4)adjustable louvers, located in the dash, two (2) <br />adjustable louvers directed at the driverand two (2) adjustable louvers directed at the officer and <br />floor vents at the driverand officer. <br />·Dual overhead units, with five (5) adjustable louvers shall be mounted above the rearfacing seat <br />positions on the driver and officer side of the cab <br />·The heater shall be plumbed with a shut off valveat the engine, so that thecoolant bypasses the <br />heaters. <br />AIR CONDITIONING <br />The air conditioning system shall feature: <br />·One (1)evaporator shallbe located under the center dash and Two (2)crew overhead <br />evaporators located nearthe B-pillar on each sideof the caballowing for greaterfrontal visibility <br />for the forward-facing crew seating andallowing for more interior mounting of accessories. <br />·A gravity condensation drain system shall be utilized. These drains shall remove all <br />condensation from theevaporator units and directit to the exterior of the chassis cab for optimal <br />performance. Systems utilizing pumps to remove condensation, or gravity systems with poles or <br />other obstructions located within the cab to routedrains through shall not be acceptable.No <br />Exceptions. <br />·Substantial air movement for optimum cooling shall be provided to the driver and officer <br />positions, with six (6) adjustable louvers, located in the dash, three(3) adjustable louvers shall be <br />directed at the driverand three (3)adjustable louvers shall be directed at the officer andfloor <br />vents at the driverand officer. <br />·The air condition systemshall be capable of cooling the cab from outside ambient average temp <br />of 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 degrees Celsius) to an average insidecab temp of 71 degrees <br />Fahrenheit (22 degreesCelsius) at no less than 50% humidity in 30 minutes with an engine RPM <br />of 1250, aftera two (2)hour heat soak.
