<br />SECTION 07920 <br /> <br />SEALANTS AND CAULKING <br /> <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.1 SUMMARY <br /> <br />A. Throughout the Work, seal and caulk joints where shown on the Drawings and <br />elsewhere as required to provide a positive barrier against passage of moisture <br />and passage of air. All joints are to be sealed and caulked whether specifically <br />identified in this Section or not. Appropriate materials shall be used for the <br />conditions being sealed. <br />1.2 SUBMITTALS <br /> <br />A. Manufacturer's specifications and other data needed to prove compliance with <br />the specified requirements. <br /> <br />B. Manufacturer's recommended installation procedures which, when approved by <br />the Architect/Engineer, will become the basis for accepting or rejecting actual <br />installation procedures used on the Work. <br /> <br />C. Samples: Accompanying the submittal described above, submit samples of each <br />sealant, each backing material, each primer, and each bond breaker proposed to <br />be used. Samples to include the following: <br />1. <br />2. Substrate test report for each sealer. <br />3. Certified Product test reports: Independent testing agency reports <br />showing compliance with all specified requirements. <br />a. Reports may be on tests conducted up to and including 24months <br />before submission, provided the tests were conducted using aged <br />specimens of the same products scheduled to be installed. <br />4. Field installation reports. <br />5. Certificates <br />a. <br />product complies with the Specifications and is appropriate for the <br />intended use. <br />6. <br />a. List all conditions detrimental to the performance of the scheduled <br />installation of joint sealer. <br /> <br /> <br />1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> <br />A. Use adequate numbers of skilled workmen who are thoroughly trained and <br />experienced in the necessary crafts and who are completely familiar with the <br />specified requirements and the methods needed for proper performance of the <br />work of this Section. <br /> <br />SEALANTS AND CAULKING <br />07920-1 <br /> <br />
