A. Provide other materials, not specifically described but required for a complete <br />and proper installation, as selected by the Contractor subject to the approval <br />of the Architect/Engineer. <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.1 SURFACE CONDITIONS <br />A. Examine the areas and conditions under which work of this Section will be <br />performed. Correct conditions detrimental to timely and proper completion of <br />the Work as noted on the drawings. Do not proceed until unsatisfactory <br />conditions are corrected. <br /> <br />3.2 INSTALLATION <br /> <br />A. Membrane: <br />1. Replace/repair deteriorated areas of the existing wood deckings and <br />provide a completely smooth substrate for installation of the <br />membrane. <br />2. Cover imperfections with not less than 18 gage metal. <br />3. Scatter-nail or scatter-mop base sheet to the deck. <br />4. Install the top sheet of membrane in a flood coat of hot asphalt, <br />smoothing out wrinkles and fishmouths. <br />5. Install ice and water shield as required by the Manufacturer. <br /> <br />B. Flashing: <br />1. Install min. 20 oz. copper gutter lining. Extend up roof slope as <br />required by clay tile manufacturer. <br />2. Install valley flashing as required by clay tile manufacturer. <br />3. Install step flashing, apron flashing and counter flashing around dormer <br />and chimney as required by clay tile manufacturer. <br /> <br />C. Tiles: <br />1. Headlap the tiles uniformly in each course to provide the designed <br />installation. <br />2. In the field of the roof, fasten each tile. <br />a. Install spot repair tiles using 12 gauge copper wire as directed <br />by clay tile manufacturer. <br />3. Use mortar sparingly and, except as otherwise shown on the <br />Drawings, only to provide proper bedding for tiles in special situations. <br />4. Do not mortar the interlocking joints between field tiles or the joints <br />between ridge, hip, and rake tiles. <br /> <br />5. Use mortar where required as a bedding material, but take care to <br />prevent slopping or mortar onto exposed portions of the roof and to <br />prevent the accumulation of mortar where it could have a damming <br />effect on drainage. <br />6. Firmly secure accessory tiles in place. <br />7.
