REGULAR MEETING APRIL 28, 2020 91 <br />- Ozinga Ready Mix, 715 W. Ireland Rd., South Bend IN, 46614 for Division B in the <br />amount of $594,143.75; <br />- Walsh & Kelly, Inc., 24358 State Road 23, South Bend, IN 46614 for Division C in the <br />amount of $195,250; <br />- Ferguson Waterworks, 1077 Oliver Plow Ct., South Bend, IN 46601 for Division D, in <br />the amount of $169,050; and Division G in the amount of $25,298.30 <br />Mr. Kreeger requested the Board reject Divisions A and I and approve to re -advertise. He noted <br />no bids were received for Division E, F, and H and those will go to the open market. Therefore, <br />Ms. Maradik made a motion that the recommendations be accepted, and the bids be awarded and <br />rejected, and the contracts approved as outlined above, and Divisions A and I be re -advertised. <br />Mr. Molnar seconded the motion, which carried by roll call. <br />AWARD BIDS — WATER TREATMENT CHEMICALS 2020-2021 (VARIOUS <br />OPERATIONAL BUDGETS) <br />Mr. Eugene Pietsch III, Utilities; advised the Board that on April 14, 2020, bids were received <br />and opened for the above referenced chemicals. After reviewing those bids, Mr. Pietsch <br />recommended that the Board award the contracts to the lowest responsive and responsible <br />bidders in unit prices as follows: <br />- Alexander Chemical Corporation, A Carus Company, 7593 S. First Rd., LaPorte, IN <br />46350, Item Nos. 4, 7, 9 and 10; <br />- Kemira Water Solutions, Inc., 4321 W. 6th. St., Lawrence, KS 66049, Item No. 3; <br />- JCI Jones Chemicals, Inc., 1765 Ringling Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34236, Item Nos. 1 and 2; <br />- Watcon, Inc., 2215 S. Main St., South Bend, IN 46613, Item No. 6; <br />- Chemical Services, Inc., 5727 Industrial Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46825, Item No. 5 <br />- Hawkins, Inc., 2381 Rosegate, Roseville, MN 55113, Item Nos. 11 and 12; <br />- Polydyne, Inc., One Chemical Plant Road, Riceboro, GA 31323, Item No. 8; <br />- Schaners Wastewater Products, Inc., 23422 Hwy. 18, Springboro, PA 16435, Item No. 13 <br />Mr. Pietsch stated the non -bid chemicals will default to the open market. Therefore, Ms. Maradik <br />made a motion that the recommendation be accepted, and the bids be awarded as outlined above. <br />Mr. Molnar seconded the motion, which carried by roll call. <br />AWARD QUOTATION AND APPROVE CONTRACT — 2020 TREE AND STUMP <br />REMOVAL — PROJECT NO. 120-002 (MVH) <br />Ms. Alicia Czarnecki, Engineering, advised the Board that on April 14, quotations were received <br />and opened for the above referenced project. After reviewing those quotations, Ms. Czarnecki <br />recommended that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, <br />K&R Tree Services, LLC, 1724 South Grant St., South Bend, IN 46613, in the amount of <br />$49,875.12. Therefore, Ms. Maradik made a motion that the recommendation be accepted, and <br />the quotation be awarded, and the contract approved as outlined above. Mr. Molnar seconded the <br />motion, which carried by roll call. <br />AWARD QUOTATION AND APPROVE CONTRACT — 2020 LAMPPOST PROGRAM — <br />PROJECT NO. 120-007 (COIT) <br />Ms. Alicia Czarnecki, Engineering, advised the Board that on April 14, quotations were received <br />and opened for the above referenced program. After reviewing those quotations, Ms. Czarnecki <br />recommended that the Board award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, <br />Gama Sonic USA, Inc., 6185 Jimmy Carter Blvd., Suite F, Norcross, GA 30071, in the amount <br />of $49,497.30. Therefore, Ms. Maradik made a motion that the recommendation be accepted, and <br />the quotation be awarded, and the contract approved as outlined above. Mr. Molnar seconded the <br />motion, which carried by roll call. <br />APPROVE REQUEST TO REJECT BIDS AND RE -ADVERTISE — MAIN & COLFAX <br />PARKING STRUCTURE REPAIRS 2020 — PROJECT NO 115-143B (VPA BUILDING <br />REPAIRS & MAINTENANCE) <br />In a memorandum to the Board, Ms. Rebecca Plantz, Engineering, requested permission to reject <br />all bids for the above referenced project and approve the reviseD title sheet. Therefore, upon a <br />motion made by Ms. Maradik, seconded by Mr. Molnar and carried by roll call, the above <br />request was approved. <br />
